Och då denne herre varit min page och alltid givit betygelser av hjärta och ära som gjort honom värdig mitt beskydd, förpliktar detta mig att rekommendera honom till Er att skaffa honom i Era trupper någon anställning som är lämplig för honom och som Ni kommer att anse honom kapabel till. Jag ber Er att tro att jag kommer att vara Er mycket tacksam för all den vänlighet Ni visar honom i min konsideration. Jag försäkrar Er om den vänskap och aktning jag har för Era förtjänster, och jag ber till Gud att han har Er i sin heliga och värdiga vård.

And as this gentleman has been my page and has always given marks of heart and honour which have made him worthy of my protection, this obliges me to recommend him to you to obtain for him in your troops some employment which will be suitable for him, and of which you will deem him capable. I beg you to believe that I shall be greatly obliged to you for all the kindness you show him in my consideration. I assure you of the friendship and esteem I have for your merit, and I pray to God that He have you in His holy and worthy keeping.

Note: In accordance with the nobility's ideals in the early modern era, kings and queens considered themselves siblings; when talking to someone of a lower rank than their own, they would refer to that person as "my cousin", regardless of whether or not they were related.
