Kapten Claudio Martelli, en herre från Fermo, som söker främja sin fortun efter att ha tjänstgjort som volontär i den kejserliga armén före Buda, ber Er om nåden av ett kompani i samma trupper som Ni befaller med så mycket ära; och då jag har starka överväganden som förplikter mig att intressera mig för denna herres befordran, rekommenderar jag honom av hela mitt hjärta till Ert skydd, om vilket jag är övertygad om att han kommer att göra sig värdig genom sina tjänster, om Ni beviljar honom den ynnest han önskar, och som jag ber Er för honom med all den iver som jag kan, försäkrande Er att jag kommer att vara Er tacksam för all den vänlighet som Ni kommer att ha mot honom i min konsideration, och jag ber till Gud att han har Er i sin heliga vård.

Captain Claudio Martelli, a gentleman from Fermo, seeking to further his fortune after having served as a volunteer in the Imperial Army before Buda, asks of you the grace of a company in the same troops which you command with so much glory; and as I have strong considerations which oblige me to take an interest in the advancement of this gentleman, I recommend him with all my heart to your protection, of which I am persuaded that he will make himself worthy by his services, if you grant him the favour he desires, and which I ask of you for him with all the eagerness of which I am capable, assuring you that I shall be grateful to you for all the kindnesses that you will have for him in my consideration, and I pray God that He have you in His holy keeping.
