Je vous remercie du souvenir que vous me témoignez et vous prie de vous souvenir de la justice que je rends à votre mérite, vous assurant qu'en tous lieux et en tous temps vous pouvez faire état que mon estime et mon amitié vous sont entièrement acquises, et qu'en toutes les occasions je tâcherai de vous en donner les plus obligeantes marques que vous en pouvez désirer de moi. Cependant je vous félicite sur votre entrée à Naples et prie Dieu qu'il vous tienne, mon cousin, en sa sainte et digne garde, etc.

Jag försäkrar Er att Ni vid alla tidpunkter och på alla ställen kan konstatera att min aktning och min vänskap helt och hållet kommer att vara för Er, och att jag vid alla tillfällen kommer att försöka ge Er de mest tillmötesgående betygelser av dem som Ni kan önska av mig.

I thank you for remembering me, and I beg you to remember justice to your merit. I assure you that at all times and in all places, you can state that my esteem and my friendship will be entirely for you, and that on all occasions I will try to give you the most obliging marks of them that you can desire of me.

In the meantime, I congratulate you on your entry into Naples, and I pray to God that He have you, my cousin, in His holy and worthy keeping.

Jag tackar Er för det vänliga minne Ni betygar mig, och jag ber Er att komma ihåg hur jag gör stat av Era förtjänster, försäkrande Er om att Ni på alla platser och vid alla tidpunkter kan vara säker på att min aktning och vänskap är helt och hållet Era, och att jag vid alla tillfällen kommer att försöka ge Er de mest förpliktande betygelser av detta som Ni kan önska Er av mig. I thank you for the kind remembrance that you testify to me, and I beg you to remember the state I make of your merit, assuring you that in all places and at all times you can be sure that my esteem and friendship are entirely yours, and that on all occasions I will try to give you the most obliging marks of this that you could desire from me. In the meantime, I congratulate you on your arrival in Naples and pray to God that He hold you, my cousin, in His holy and worthy keeping, etc.

Note: In accordance with the nobility's ideals in the early modern era, kings and queens considered themselves siblings; when talking to someone of a lower rank than their own, they would refer to that person as "my cousin", regardless of whether or not they were related.
