"A few weeks after this simple, heartfelt letter from the mother, two letters are sent on the same day from Count Palatine Johan Kasimir, one addressed to his son, the other to his courtier. To his son the father writes..."
The letter:
Mon cher fils, la vostre m'ayant este rendue j'entens par icelle vostre bon estat d'ont je loue Dieu le priant de sa grace vouloir vous le continuer et vous assister a bien et tellement poursuiure vos estudes, affin qu'en vraye crainte diuine [vous] puissiez auec le temps servir et vos parens et vos amis but auquel touttes vos actions doiuent estre dirigées en vous conseruant et acquierrant par humanite requise l'amitie des gens d'honneur et de bien suiuant les commendement[s] de S. M. et les exhortations fideles de ceux auxquels le soing de votre bonne nourriture est comise. Suiuez ceste mienne exhortation, par laquelle vous acquierrant la benediction diuine Je vous seray tousjours,

Suivez cette mienne exhortation, par laquelle, vous acquérant la bénédiction divine, je vous serai toujours,

Sedan jag fått Ert brev, genom vilket jag förnimmer Ert goda tillstånd, prisar jag Gud och ber honom, genom hans nåd, att fortsätta det för Er och hjälpa Er att fullfölja Era studier väl, så att Ni i sann gudomlig fruktan med tiden kan tjäna både Era föräldrar och Era vänner, ett mål mot vilket alla Era handlingar måste inriktas på att bevara Er och med nödvändig mänsklighet förvärva vänskap med hederliga och goda människor, följa med Hennes Majestäts befallningar och de trogna uppmaningarna från dem som vården om Er goda näring är anförtrodd. Följ denna min uppmaning, genom vilken jag, i och med att vinna den gudomliga välsignelsen för Er, alltid kommer att vara,

My dear son,
Your letter having been handed to me, I learn from it of your good state, for which I praise God, praying Him, by His grace, to continue it for you and to assist you to pursue your studies well and so much so that in true divine fear you may in time serve both your parents and your friends, a goal to which all your actions must be directed by preserving yourself and acquiring by required humanity the friendship of people of honour and good, following Her Majesty's commands and the faithful exhortations of those to whom the care of your good nourishment is committed. Follow this my exhortation, by which, acquiring for you the divine blessing, I will always be,
my dear son,
your good and faithful father
