The biography:
At last she arrived at Fontainebleau, in the dress of an Amazon. Several ladies of the court came to welcome her, and advanced to salute her. Christina was somewhat offended at their familiarity, but contented herself with saying, "How anxious are these ladies to kiss me! — Is it because I resemble a man?"
She in general avoided the company of women, whom she considered as triflers. "If I love the men", said she, "it is not because they are men; but because they are not women."
