The biography:
A contagion which seized her at Rome, or rather a spirit naturally restless and inquisitive, a rage of seeing and learning, provoked Christina to make a journey to France. She arrived by sea at Marseilles. All possible honours were paid her in the cities through which she passed. It was even necessary that she should endure all the harangues prescribed for the ceremonial. Having listened to one, among many, that tired her by its languor, a French officer, who accompanied her, begged her to express her satisfaction to the orator: "Most heartily", said she; "but it is only because he has done."
Above: Kristina.
