The letter:

Monsieur Sevedt Bååt. J'envoïe le Sr. Adami, Capitaine de mes Gardes Suisses, en Suède, afin qu'il prenne une très-éxacte connoissance de tous mes intérêts, & qu'il tâche de remédier autant qu'il est possible au retardement qu'on fait des païemens de mes revenus, & aux desordres qu'il trouvera, lui aïant donné plein pouvoir pour cet effèt comme aussi pour recevoir les comptes, afin que les aïant éxaminés il soit mieux informé de l'état de mes affaires, pour m'en faire rapport. Et combien que je sois persuadée que vous ne manquerez pas de donner audit Adami toute votre assistance, où elle lui sera nécessaire pour recouvrer les païemens qui me sont dûs, & pour en faire les remises à mon Résident Texeira, qui doit être satisfait de son avance; néanmoins j'ai voulu vous faire la présente pour vous ordonner d'agir en cette occasion de toute vigueur, afin que ledit Adami puisse plus aisément par votre moïen éxécuter les ordres & les instructions que je lui ai données, aux quelles je me remèts, vous assurant que vous me rendrez un service très-agréable, & que je vous en témoignerai ma reconnoissance. Cependant je prie Dieu qu'il vous tienne en sa sainte garde. Rome ce 30 Mai 1665.

English translation (my own):

Sir Seved Bååth,

I am sending Sir Adami, Captain of my Swiss Guards, to Sweden, so that he may acquire a very precise knowledge of all my interests, and that he may try to remedy as much as possible the delay that is being made of the payments of my income, and of the orders that he will find, having given him full authority for this purpose as also to receive the accounts, so that having examined them he is better informed of the state of my affairs, in order to report to me thereupon. And how much I may be persuaded that you will not fail to give the said Adami all your assistance where it will be necessary for him to collect the payments which are due to me, and to deliver them to my resident Texeira, who must be satisfied with his advances; nevertheless I wanted to make you the present to order you to act on this occasion with all vigour, so that said Adami can more easily by your means carry out the orders and instructions that I gave him, on which I am relying, assuring you that you will render me a very pleasant service and that I will show you my gratitude. I pray to God that He may keep you in His holy care. Rome, this May 30, 1665.
