S. de' 28. d'Agosto per l'affetto, e p[er] la Stima Sing[ola]re ch'io porto al merito della bontà, e della Virtù Sua. La compatisco Vivam[ent]e del dolore, che le hà cagionato la disgrazia accaduta al Dottor Molinos Sentita da Mè ancora con infinito dispiacere. Hà V. S. ragione d'esser persuasa della protezzione con la quale gl'hò assistito, e può esser Sicura ch'io non gliela farò mancare; Solo mi dispiace che poco gli potrà giouare Mà mi consola il douersi Sperare che in un Tribunale così giusto, e Sapiente, qual è quello del S. Ha Vostra Signoria ragione d'esser persuasa della protezione con la quale gl'ho assistito, e può esser sicura ch'io non gliela farò mancare. Solo mi dispiace che poco gli potrà giovare, ma mi consola il doversi sperare che in un tribunale così giusto e sapiente, qual è quello del Sant'Uffizio. Je compatis profondément à la douleur que lui a causée le malheur qui s'est abattu sur le docteur Molinos, que je ressens encore avec un regret infini. Votre Seigneurie a des raisons d'être persuadée de la protection dont je l'ai assistée, et elle peut être sûre que je ne la laisserai pas en manquer. Je regrette seulement qu'il lui soit peu utile; mais je suis consolée d'avoir à espérer que dans une cour aussi juste et aussi sage que celle du Saint-Office, l'innocence finira par triompher de l'imposture et de la méchanceté, car c'est la cause de Dieu; j'espère que sa providence disposera tout selon ce qui sera à sa plus grande gloire et à son service. Jag har djup medlidande med den smärta som den olycka som drabbat doktor Molinos har orsakat Er, som jag fortfarande har känt med oändlig ånger. Ni har anledning att vara övertygad om det skydd med vilket jag har bistått honom, och Ni kan vara säker på att jag inte kommer att låta Er sakna det. Jag är bara ledsen att det kommer ju att vara till föga nytta för honom; men jag tröstar mig över att behöva hoppas att i en domstol som är lika rättvis och klok som den i det Heliga Officium, kommer oskulden så småningom att segra över bedrägeri och illvilja, eftersom det är Guds sak; jag litar på att hans försyn kommer att disponera allt i enlighet med vad som kommer att vara till hans största ära och tjänst. Your Lordship's letter of the 28th of August was extremely pleasant to me for the affection and the singular esteem that I have for the merit of your goodness and virtue. I deeply sympathise with the pain which the misfortune that has befallen Dr. Molinos has caused you, which I have still felt with infinite regret. Your Lordship has reason to be persuaded of the protection with which I have assisted him, and you can be sure that I will not let you lack it. I am only sorry that it will be of little use to him; but I am consoled to have to hope that in a court as just and wise as that of the Holy Office, innocence will eventually triumph over imposture and malice, as it is God's cause; I trust that His providence will dispose all according to what will be to His greatest glory and service. In the meantime, I thank Your Lordship for your obsequious expressions towards me, and, recommending myself to your holy sacrifices, I pray to God that He will keep and bless you.

Note: On July 18, 1685, Miguel Molinos had been arrested by the pontifical guards and imprisoned in Castel Sant'Angelo. He was the main founder of the Quietist philosophy, which was an offshoot set of Roman Catholic beliefs that became popular in France, Italy and Spain in the late 1670s and 1680s. Quietism promoted contemplation over meditation, intellectual stillness over vocal prayer, and an attitude of inner passivity and fatalism over pious action in an account of mystical prayer, spiritual growth and union with God. Kristina embraced Quietism and its teachings wholeheartedly until the end of her life, but the Catholic Church denounced it as a heretical cult. Despite the hopes that Kristina and others of Molinos' friends had that he would be acquitted, and many people in Rome still supporting his beliefs, things ended up not going in his favour. In 1687, after being put on trial, Molinos was sentenced to life in the prison of the Holy Office of the Inquisition, where he died on December 29, 1696, seven years after Kristina's own death.
