The letter:

Monsieur mon Frére, j'ai prié Monsieur le Nonce de solliciter auprès de V. M. de ma part une affaire à laquelle je crois la trouver favorable, puisqu'il s'agit de la gloire & du service de Dieu & de son Eglise. Je m'estime heureuse d'avoir trouvé une occasion si glorieuse pour rappeller dans votre souvenir l'amitié que je vous ai constamment conservée en tout tems, & en tous lieux, telle que le devoir du sang l'exige de moi.

Je vous prie d'ajouter foi aux vérités que Monsieur le Nonce dira à V. M. sur mes sentimens, & d'être persuadé que si vous me favorisez en cette occasion, V. M. ajoutera à mes sentimens une plus forte obligation que ne l'est celle du sang, qui m'attache au desir de vous honorer, & de vous servir toute ma vie. Je suis

English translation (my own):

Sir my Brother,

I have begged the Nuncio to solicit from Your Majesty on my behalf a matter which I believe to find favourable, since it is a question of the glory and the service of God and of His Church. I consider myself happy to have found such a glorious occasion to recall in your memory the friendship which I have constantly preserved to you at all times, and in all places, such as the duty of blood demands of me.

I beg you to have faith in the truths that the Nuncio will tell Your Majesty about my feelings, and to be convinced that if you favour me on this occasion, Your Majesty will add to my feelings a stronger obligation than that of blood, which binds me to the desire to honour you, and to serve you all my life. I am,
