Je suis fort satisfaitte de la responce du Nonce, et il m'importe infiniment qu'on ne parle pas de moy deuant que l'abdication soit faitte et qu'on soit sur le point de l'election. J'attends dans quinze iours les responces de Rome, ce serà alors que Je m'expliqueray mieux cependant Je serois bien obligeè au Nonce s'il Vouloit trauailler segretement à l'exclusion de tous les autres Pretendents sans parler de moy que quand il serà temps a fin de preparer les humeurs a la proposition de Sa S.té car J'espere qu'elle me serà fauorable. Au nom de Dieu donnéz Vous garde de ne parler pas de moy à personne sans l'ordre expres du Nonce; Vous ne partirèz pas de là iusqu'à ce que le Nonce aurà receù les ordres de Rome, depuis Vous Viendrèz à m'informer de bouche de ce qui se passerà, Cependant ne manquèz pas de remercier le Nonce de ma part et de luy communiquer la presente car n'ayant point à presente de Chiffre auec luy Je n'ay pas Voulu luy escrire sur cette matiere; mais par le prochain ordinaire Je Vous enuoyeray pour luy une Chiffre Jtalienne pour la donner au Nonce et apres nous pourrons communiquer ensemble.

Jag förväntar mig Roms svar om fjorton dagar, det är då jag skall förklara mig bättre; under tiden skulle jag vara mycket tacksam gentemot nuntien om han ville arbeta i hemlighet med uteslutande av alla andra pretendenter, för att inte tala om mig själv, bara när tiden är inne, för att förbereda sinnena för Hans Helighets förslag, eftersom jag hoppas att det kommer att vara gynnsamt för mig. I Guds namn, se till att inte tala om mig till någon utan nuntiens uttryckliga befallning. Ni skall inte åka därifrån förrän nuntien har fått befallningen från Rom. I expect Rome's answers in a fortnight, it will be then that I will explain myself better; in the meantime, I would be very much obliged to the Nuncio if he wanted to work secretly to the exclusion of all the other pretenders, not to mention myself, only when the time is right, in order to prepare minds for His Holiness's proposal, as I hope it will be favourable to me. In the name of God, take care not to speak of me to anyone without the express order of the Nuncio. You will not leave there until the Nuncio has received orders from Rome. Then you will come and tell me by mouth what is going on; in the meantime, do not fail to thank the Nuncio on my behalf, and to communicate this to him; for, having no cipher with him at present, I did not wish to write to him on this subject; but by the next ordinary I will send you an Italian cipher for him, and afterwards we can communicate together.
