Jl y a huict iours que J'ay enuoyè la premiere Lettre Signifiant tout ce que Mons[ieu]r le Nonce m'a commandè: A cette heure continuant Je donne adùis que Mons[ieu]r le Nonce a escrit à Rome de Sa propre main comm' a V[ost]re M[aies]té (parce qu'il ne Veut pas communiquer à personne dans n[ost]re affaire) à Monseig[neu]r le Card[ina]l Azzolino, et par luy à Monseig[neu]r le Card[ina]l Rospigliosi les informant comment il faut faire de la part de Sa S[ainte]té particulierem[en]t pour le Brief Apostolique à la Republique. Jl m'a ditt qu'on commence resusciter la faction du Prince de Condè, et que pour luy Sont l'Archeuesque, le Chanc[elie]r de Lithuanie, et plusieurs Senateurs, qui ont receù de l'argent françois, et presque tous ceux qui vont tenir la partie de Moscouie Seulem[en]t dans apparence, et en effect ils Sont pour le Prince de Condè. J'ay assistè aussy à l'une des petites Dietes, ou premierem[en]t l'enuoyè de la part du Roy a monstrè Son Jnstruction Sans parler de la resignation apres cela on a leù la lettre de l'Archevesque de Gnesne, ou il a raccontè tout ce qu'il est arriuè à la conuocation derniere dans la quelle le Roy a proposè l'abdication de la Couronne: On a donc conclù qu'on prie le Roy qu'il ne resigne pas; mais S'il ne Veut pas Satisfaire à l'instance des nonces qu'il resigne, et qu'on change la Diette, dans la conuocation de la quelle on instituerà le temps pour l'election. A cette heure, continuant, je donne avis que Monsieur le nonce a écrit à Rome de sa propre main comme à Votre Majesté (parce qu'il ne veut pas communiquer à personne dans notre affaire), à Monseigneur le cardinal Azzolino, et par lui à Monseigneur le cardinal Rospigliosi, les informant comment il faut faire de la part de Sa Sainteté, particulièrement pour le bref apostolique à la République.

För åtta dagar sedan skickade jag Ers Majestät det första brevet, innehållande allt som nuntien hade beordrat mig. Jag meddelar vid denna tidpunkt att nuntien har skrivit till Rom med sin egen hand, som till Ers Majestät (ty han inte vill meddela vår affär till någon), till kardinal Azzolino och genom honom till kardinal Rospigliosi, underrättande om hur att agera på uppdrag av Hans Helighet, särskilt för det apostoliska brevet till Republiken. Han berättade för mig att fraktionen av prinsen de Condé börjar återupplivas, som har på sin sida ärkebiskopen av Gnesen, Litauens kansler, flera rådsmän som har fått franska pengar och nästan alla de som kommer att ta parti för herren, bara till utseendet, och de som faktiskt är för prinsen de Condé. Eight days ago I sent Your Majesty the first letter, containing all that the Nuncio had ordered me. I give notice at this time that the Nuncio has written to Rome with his own hand, as to Your Majesty (because he does not want to communicate our affair to anyone), to Cardinal Azzolino, and through him to Cardinal Rospigliosi, informing them how to act on behalf of His Holiness, especially for the apostolic brief to the Republic. He told me that the faction of the Prince of Condé is starting to be revived, which has on his side the Archbishop of Gnesen, the Chancellor of Lithuania, several senators who have received French money, and almost all those who will take the side of the gentleman, only in appearance, and those who are in fact for the Prince de Condé. Among other things, he also told me that this reason, that Your Majesty does not want to marry, will do the most against you, because the Poles wish at this time to establish the reigning house to always have subjects capable of reaching the Crown, in order not to seek any more elsewhere in the future.

I had a singular speech touching the future election, which I will send by the first post, where Your Majesty can see the reasons of the Republic in this election.
Besides, since there is nothing to do at this hour in Warsaw, as I wrote before, with the consent and by the advice of the Nuncio I will make a little journey and visits to my acquaintances in the nobility, where I will take note of their intentions, and all that they will have established in these small council meetings. However, I will not let a post pass without giving notice of something important, and I want to return to Warsaw a week before the great council meeting of August 27th.

Minęło osiem dni odkąd wysłałem pierwszy list, w którym opisałem wszystko, co monsinior nuncjusz nakazał mi zrobić. W tej chwili, kontynuując, zawiadamiam, że monsignor nuncjusz napisał do Rzymu własnoręcznie, a także do Waszej Wysokości (ponieważ nie chce nikomu zakomunikować naszej sprawy), do monsiniora kardynała Azzolino, a za jego pośrednictwem do monsiniora kardynała Rospigliosiego, informując ich, jak postępować w imieniu Jego Świątobliwości, szczególnie w odniesieniu do listu apostolskiego do Republiki.
