Herr General Gouverneur,
Såsom Jag uti det bref, Jag nu skrifwer til Marquisen, har tilfyllest explicerat mig öfwer det, som angår Ederne uti mine domainer, hwarom J uti edert sidsta mig til skrifwit hafwen; Så raporterar Jag mig deruppå och will, at J eder der efter rätten, såsom ock, uti alla de andre stycken, hwilka samma mit bref inne håller; befallandes Eder, at uti alla saker råda och styra Marquisen, och synnerligen at så laga, at hans conduite i regard til Drottningarne må wara dem begge angenem, så at hwarken den ena, eller den andra må hafwa någon orsak, at wara med honom illa förnögd; warandes mig migket angelägit, at wäl menagera begge. Och Jag befaller Eder Gud til all god wälgång.

Comme je me suis expliquée suffisamment dans la lettre que je viens d'écrire au Marquis, au sujèt des sermens de fidélité & de l'hommage dans mes Domaines, sur quoi vous m'avez écrit en dernier lieu, je m'y rapporte par la présente, & je veux que vous vous régliez là-dessus, même à l'égard d'autres points, qui sont contenus dans ma dite lettre. Vous enjoignant au reste de conduire & d'assister le Marquis de vos conseils dans toutes les occurences, & en particulier de diriger sa conduite deforte, qu'elle soit agréable aux deux Reines, & que ni l'une ni l'autre n'ait raison d'être malsatisfaite de lui, puisqu'il m'importe de ménager toutes les deux. Que Dieu vous ait en sa sainte garde!

Instructing you to control and assist the Marquis with your advice in all occurrences, and in particular to direct his strong conduct, that it is agreeable to the two Queens, and that neither be right to be unhappy with him, since it is important to me to spare both. May God have you in His holy keeping!

Je vous ordonne de conseiller et de gouverner le marquis en toutes choses, et particulièrement de faire en sorte que sa conduite envers les reines leur soit agréable à toutes deux, afin que ni l'une ni l'autre n'aient de raison d'être mécontente de lui, car il m'importe beaucoup de bien les gouverner toutes deux. Et je vous recommande à Dieu et à toute bonne prospérité. Rome, le 9 octobre 1688.

As I have fully explained myself in the letter I am now writing to the Marquis regarding what concerns the oaths in my domains, which you have written to me about in your last letter, so I report myself on it and want you to act in accordance with it, as well as in all the other pieces which my same letter contains; I commanding you to advise and govern the Marquis in all matters and particularly to arrange so that his conduct in regard to the Queens may be agreeable to them both, so that neither the one nor the other may have any reason to be badly contented with him, it being very important to me to manage both well. And I commend you to God and to all good prosperity. Rome, October 9, 1688.
