Kristina's letter to Carlo Carafa della Spina, the Apostolic Nuncio of Vienna, dated December 11/21 (New Style), 1661

The letter:

English translation (my own):

How much the affair in question would be worsened by the departure of this minister, who knew how to captivate not only the benevolence of the King of Denmark, but also gain the principal ministers of the court and the nation itself, to a point that they were shown very favourable to the Catholics, and that in time they would be allowed to enjoy there a sort of free exercise of their religion. I warn you so that you may work as your own, so that the said ambassador is sent there for the greater good of the Catholic religion, which, without its assistance, would lose much in that district.
