"Christine, pour s'entretenir dans les bonnes graces du Pape anticipa le tems pour lui souhaiter bonnes fêtes & le nouvel an dès la fin du mois de Novembre ([Lettere a Diversi] l. c. p. 137.), sans pourtant lui rien marquer de la Négociation qu'elle avoit sur le tapis.
Néanmoins on jugera par une Lettre qu'elle écrivit depuis, que le Pape en étoit averti d'ailleurs, & ce sera justement en cela que la Reine aura cherché à se faire un mérite auprès de lui en travaillant comme à son insu à l'avancement de la Religion Catholique. Pour convaincre Sa Sainteté combien elle y étoit sincérement attachée, elle lui écrivit..."
"Kristina, in order to stay in the Pope's good graces, anticipated the time to wish him happy holidays and a happy New Year at the end of November ([Lettere a diversi], l. c., page 137.), without, however, telling him anything about the negotiation she had on the table.
Nevertheless, one will judge from a letter that she wrote later that the Pope was informed of this from elsewhere, and it will be precisely in this that the Queen will have sought to make a merit for herself with him by working as if without his knowledge for the advancement of the Catholic religion. To convince His Holiness how sincerely she was attached to it, she wrote to him..."
