As God the Most High has, by His divine kindness, permitted Your Majesty as well as myself to survive this now ending year, protected us from all danger and misfortune, kept us in good disposition of life, and enter this now beginning New Year with health and well-being, I have therefore seen it as my humble affection and daughterly duty to tell and heartily by God wish Your Majesty with this my filial, humble letter (which time and my absence do not allow me to do in person) all pleasant welfare, good health and soundness of life, consolation, recovery and joy; and, in sum, a good, happy, and joyous New Year. I heartily pray His Divine Grace that it be His will to keep Your Majesty and preserve you well so that I may have many years' occasion to render and prove to Your Majesty my humble, filial service, in accordance with my duty and will. I should now certainly show such my wish and my daughterly affection, after this custom, with a New Year's gift.
