Mon Cousin, j'ai reçu avec joïe l'obligeante lettre que V. A. m'a voulu écrire & Vous rends grace des témoignages, que Vous me donnez de votre amitié, que j'estime par le mérite de votre personne, & par la proximité du sang, qui nous lie. Je vous prie d'être persuadé que je suis prête à cultiver cette amitié dans toutes les occasions, qui se pourront présenter, pour Vous faire connoitre que je réponds à votre amitié avec l'estime & la reconnoissance que V. A. mérite, & c'est là-dessus que je ne désavouërai jamais ni le Sr. Maximilien Raggi, ni aucun autre, qui me rendra le service d'en assurer V. A. & je suis au désespoir de n'avoir pas sû que ce Gentilhomme eut l'honneur de la permission de Vous écrire, car je n'aurois pas manqué de le charger de mes civilités pour Vous, si je l'eusse sû plutôt; mais je crois qu'à son défaut, votre Ministre en cette ville, qui me rend souvent ses assiduités, me sera témoin auprès de V. Jag fick med glädje det vänliga brevet som Ers Höghet har velat skriva till mig, och jag tackar Er för de framställningar som Ni ger mig om Er vänskap, som jag uppskattar av Er persons förtjänst och av närheten av blod som binder oss. Jag ber Er att övertygas om att jag är beredd att kultivera denna vänskap vid varje tillfälle som kan uppstå för att låta Er veta att jag svarar på Er vänskap med den uppskattning och tacksamhet som Ers Höghet förtjänar, och det är på detta som jag aldrig kommer att avvisa varken Signor Maximiliano Raggi eller någon annan som kommer att ge mig tjänsten för att försäkra Ers Höghet; och jag är förtvivlad över att inte ha vetat att denna herre hade äran att ha tillstånd att skriva till Er, för jag skulle inte ha misslyckats med att lämna honom mina artighetsbetygelser för Er i uppdrag om jag hade vetat det tidigare. I beg you to be persuaded that I am ready to cultivate this friendship on any occasion that may arise to let you know that I respond to your friendship with the esteem and gratitude that Your Highness deserves, and it is on this that I will never disavow neither Sir Maximiliano Raggi, nor any other who will render me the service of ensuring Your Highness of it; and I am in despair not to have known that this gentleman had the honour of having the permission to write to you, for I would not have failed to charge him with my civilities for you if I had known it earlier.
