The letter:

Mon Cousin. Je Vous remercie des marques, que je reçois de votre amitié dans la lettre, que vous m'avez écrite sur la naissance du Prince votre fils. Et comme je conserve toûjours de l'affection pour votre Maison; vous pouvez aussi vous assurer de la joïe particulière, avec laquelle j'ai apris cette heureuse nouvelle, & que je souhaite les occasions de vous faire connoitre, par des effèts, mon estime envers Votre Personne, priant Dieu qu'il vous tienne en sa sainte garde. Hambourg ce 21 Septembre 1666.

Min kusin,

Jag tackar Er för vänskapsbetygelserna som jag får i brevet Ni skrev till mig vid prinsen Er sons födelse. Och eftersom jag fortfarande har tillgivenhet för Ert hus, kan Ni också försäkra Er om den speciella glädje varmed jag lärde mig denna glada nyhet, och att jag önskar tillfällena att berätta för Er, genom effekter, min uppskattning för Er person och ber Gud att han kommer att hålla Er i sitt heliga beskydd. Hamburg den 21 september 1666.

I thank you for the marks of your friendship that I receive in the letter you wrote to me on the birth of the prince your son. And as I still have affection for your house, you can also assure yourself of the particular joy with which I learned this happy news, and that I wish the occasions to make known to you, by effects, my esteem for your person, praying God that He will keep you in His holy protection.
