... La Reyne Christine de Süéde avoit ordonné par son testament, qu'elle fust enterrée sans aucune pompe. Mais par l'ordre du Pape, ses obséques ont esté faites avec les cérémonies ordinaires à l'égard des personnes de son rang. Son corps, apres avoir esté exposé dans la Chambre de l'audience, fut transporté le 22, à la Rotonde dans vn de ses carosses, couvert de drap violet, suivi de onz la fe autres drappez de noir. Tous les estafiers précédoient vestus de deüil teste nüe, & vn flambeau à la main. Le 23, il fut exposé sur vn lit de parade, couvert d'vn drap de brocart d'or, revestu d'vn habit blanc avec le manteau Royal, la couronne en teste & le sceptre à la main. La Messe fut chantée par la Musique de la Chapelle en présence du Sacré Collége & de la maison du Pape. Sur le soir, le corps fut transporté à l'Eglise de Saint Pierre. Toutes les Confrairies & les Communautez marchoient deux à deux, vn flambeau à la main: plus les estafiers & les autres moindres officiers de la maison de la défunte. Le corps venoit ensüite: les Gentilshommes de la Chambre soustenant les coins du drap: & les Prélats suivoient en cavalcate. Apres les priéres, il fut inhumé dans la mesme Eglise: où le Pape a dessein de faire dresser vn mausolée: quoy que cette Princesse l'ait expressement défendu par son testament, & ordonné seulement vn simple inscription qui marqueroit son nom & son âge. Elle a institüé le Cardinal Azzolini son héritier vniversel, à condition qu'il acquittera les debtes: & qu'il satisfera aux legs contenus dans le testament: à plusieurs autres dont elle a donné des brevets: & à la fondation qu'elle a faite de trois Chapelles dans l'Eglise de S. Pierre, avec vne Messe tous les jours. Elle a laissé au Pape vn Christ de marbre fait par le Chevalier Bernini: & elle a fait d'autres legs à l'Empereur, au Roy Tres-Chrestien, au Roy d'Espagne & à quelques Cardinaux. Elle a laissé à la Marquise Capponi huit mille écus, avec d'autres sommes pour son fils & pour sa fille, dix mille écus au Marquis Mathias del Monte: & divers legs aux principaux officiers de sa Maison: ayant par vne clause spéciale, exemté de rendre compte & donné vne quittance générale à tous ceux qui l'ont servie. Vn Envoyé de Brandebourg a demandé au nom du Roy de Süéde, les pierreries, les tapisseries & les tableaux que la Reyne Christine emporta lors qu'elle sortit du Royaume, à condition qu'ils seroient rendus apres sa mort. Il a aussi demandé au nom de l'Electeur son Maistre, la restitution de la dot de la mére de cette Princesse, Reyne & sœur du feu Electeur de Brandebourg. La Chambre Apostolique prétende pareillement sur sa succession, vne somme de soixante & douxe mille écus qui ont esté prestez à la Reyne Christine durant six ans. La grace que le Pape luy avoit accordée en faveur de ceux de sa maison qui estoient bannnis ou condamnez à d'autres peines, esté limitée à six ou sept personnes.

... Queen Kristina of Sweden had ordered by her will that she be buried without any pomp. But by order of the Pope, her obsequies were made with the ordinary ceremonies with regard to persons of her rank. Her body, after having been exhibited in the audience chamber, was transported on the 22nd to the Rotunda in one of her coaches, covered with purple cloth, followed by eleven others, draped in black. All the dispatch riders preceded them dressed in mourning, each bareheaded and with a torch in hand. On the 23rd, she was exhibited on a parade bed, covered with a cloth of gold brocade, dressed in a white dress with the royal mantle, the crown on her head and the scepter in her hand. The Mass was sung by the Music of the Chapel in the presence of the Sacred College and the Pope's household. In the evening, the body was transported to the Church of Saint Peter. She left the Marquise Capponi eight thousand crowns, with other sums for her son and for her daughter, ten thousand crowns to the Marquis Mathias del Monte, and various bequests to the principal officers of her household, having by a special clause exempted them from giving an account and giving a general receipt to all who served her. An envoy from Brandenburg requested in the name of the King of Sweden the precious stones, tapestries and paintings which Queen Kristina took with her when she left the kingdom, on condition that they be returned after her death. He also asked in the name of the Elector his master, the restitution of the dowry of the mother of this princess, Queen and sister of the late Elector of Brandenburg. The Apostolic Chamber similarly claims on his succession, a sum of sixty and twelve thousand crowns which were provided to Queen Kristina for six years. The grace which the Pope had granted her in favour of those of her household who had been banished or condemned to other penalties was limited to six or seven persons.
