Domenica, 1 febbraio 1688,
Alle 22 ore è venuto oggi da me Monsiu d'Arimbert, Segretario dell'Ambasciata della Regina di Svezia, e mi ha detto, che S. Maestà è stata reintegrata nella gratia del re di Francia, ch'è la maggiore consolazione, che potesse ricevere: e che se bene conosceva che poco havrebbe potuto contribuire ad estinguere l'incendio, che si va avanzando tra questa corte, e quella di Francia, nulladimeno in tutto quello che fosse stato permesso non vi avrebbe mai portato legna, ma tutta l'acqua che havesse potuto non ostante le male sodisfazioni che pretendeva di haver ricevuto da N. S.re in molte occasioni, in testimonio della venerazione che professa verso la Santità Sua, e la sede apostolica, come farà sempre.

Io risposi che havrei riferito a Sua Santità quanto Sua Maestà mi haveva fatto rappresentare ringraziandola della confidenza, che haveva havuto meco in questa occasione.

Alle 22 ore è venuto oggi da me Monsiù d'Alibert, segretario dell'ambasciata della regina di Svezia, e mi ha detto, che Sua Maestà è stata reintegrata nella grazia del re di Francia, ch'è la maggiore consolazione che potesse ricevere, e che se bene conosceva che poco avrebbe potuto contribuire ad estinguere l'incendio, che si va avanzando tra questa Corte e quella di Francia, nulladimeno in tutto quello che fosse stato permesso non vi avrebbe mai portato legna, ma tutta l'acqua che avesse potuto non ostante le male soddisfazioni che pretendeva di aver ricevuto da Nostro Signore in molte occasioni, in testimonio della venerazione che professa verso la Santità Sua e la Sede Apostolica, come farà sempre.

A 22 heures aujourd'hui Monsieur d'Alibert, le secrétaire de l'ambassade de la reine de Suède, est venu me voir et m'a dit que Sa Majesté a été réintégrée dans la grâce du roi de France, ce qui est la plus grande consolation qu'elle puisse recevoir, et que si elle savait bien que peu aurait pu contribuer à éteindre l'incendie qui s'avance entre cette Cour et celle de France, néanmoins dans tout ce qui avait été permis elle n'y aurait jamais apporté de bois, mais toute l'eau qui aurait pu y faire ainsi malgré les mauvaises satisfactions qu'elle prétendait avoir reçues de Notre Seigneur à maintes reprises, comme preuve de la vénération qu'elle professe envers Sa Sainteté et le Siège Apostolique, comme elle le fera toujours.

Je répondis que je dirai à Sa Sainteté ce que Sa Majesté m'avait fait représenter, la remerciant de la confiance qu'elle m'avait accordée en cette occasion.

Söndagen, den 1 februari 1688.
Klockan 22 idag kom monsieur d'Alibert, sekreteraren för Sveriges drottnings ambassad, till mig och berättade att Hennes Majestät har återställts i kungen av Frankrikes nåd, vilket är den största tröst hon kunde få, och att om hon väl visste att lite kunde ha bidragit till att släcka den eld som går fram mellan detta hov och det i Frankrike, så skulle hon ändå i allt som hade varit tillåtet aldrig ha tagit med ved dit, utan allt vatten som kunde ha gjort det trots de dåliga satisfaktioner som hon påstod sig ha fått av Vår Herre vid många tillfällen, som bevis på den vördnad hon bekänner till Hans Helighet och Apostoliska Stolen, som hon alltid skall göra.

Jag svarade att jag skulle berätta för Hans Helighet vad Hennes Majestät hade fått mig att representera och tackade henne för det förtroende hon haft med mig vid detta tillfälle.

English translation (my own):

Sunday, February 1, 1688.
At 22:00 today Monsieur d'Alibert, the secretary of the embassy of the Queen of Sweden, came to me and told me that Her Majesty has been reinstated in the grace of the King of France, which is the greatest consolation she could receive, and that if she well knew that little could have contributed to extinguishing the fire which is advancing between this court and that of France, nevertheless in all that had been permitted she would never have brought wood there, but all the water that could have done so despite the bad satisfactions she claimed to have received from Our Lord on many occasions, as evidence of the veneration she professes towards His Holiness and the Apostolic See, as she always will.

I replied that I would tell His Holiness what Her Majesty had caused me to represent, thanking her for the confidence she had had with me on this occasion.
