Monsieur mon Frère. J'envoïe à V. M. le Sr. d'Alibert Sécrétaire de mes commandemens pour Vous informer de tout ce qui s'est passé ici dans les conjonctures présentes, pour faire connoitre à V. M. par les vérités qu'il vous dira, qu'en toute ma conduite j'ai donné à V. M. des véritables preuves de l'amitié que je professe envers vous, & j'espére que Vous serez si pleinement satisfait de moi, que Vous me ferez l'honneur de m'aimer comme auparavant, malgré tous les mauvais offices, qu'on m'a voulu rendre auprès de Vous. Je renouvelle à V. M. en cette occasion toutes les offres d'amitié & de service, que je Vous ai jamais faites, & n'y mets pas d'autre reserve, que celle, que mon devoir envers l'Eglise me préscrit. V. M. est trop forte pour avoir besoin de se servir d'une si foible assistance contre elle, que la mienne, & Vous êtes trop équitable pour éxiger de moi un manquement qui me rendroit indigne de votre amitié. J'ai ordonné audit Sr. d'Alibert de vous expliquer mes sentimens là-dessus, & vous prie de lui donner entière créance, & d'être persuadé que je suis &c. Rome le X. Novembre 1662.

Monsieur min Bror,
Jag skickar till Ers Majestät monsieur d'Alibert, sekreterare för mina befallningar, för att informera Er om allt som har skett här i nuvarande konjunkturerna, för att göra Ers Majestät vetterligt genom de sanningar som han kommer att säga Er, att i hela mitt uppförande har jag gett Ers Majestät sanna bevis på den vänskap jag bekänner till Er, och jag hoppas att Ni vill bli så helt nöjda med mig, att Ni vill göra mig äran att älska mig som tidigare, trots alla dåliga tjänsterna som de ville ge Er. English translation (my own):
Monsieur my Brother,
I send to Your Majesty Monsieur d'Alibert, secretary of my commands, to inform you of all that has happened here in the present circumstances, to make known to Your Majesty by the truths that he will tell you that in all my conduct I have given to Your Majesty true proofs of the friendship which I profess towards you; and I hope that you will be so fully satisfied with me, that you will do me the honour of loving me as before, in spite of all the bad services that they wished to render you. I renew to Your Majesty on this occasion all the offers of friendship and service which I have ever made to you, and I do not set aside any other reserve than that which my duty to the Church prescribes to me. Your Majesty is too strong to need to use such a feeble assistance against it as mine, and you are too equitable to exact from me a breach which would render me unworthy of your friendship. I have ordered the said Monsieur d'Alibert to explain to you my sentiments on this, and I beg you to give him full credence and to be convinced that I am, etc. Rome, November 10, 1662.
