Mon Cousin. Je m'intéresse avec beaucoup d'affection au bonheur qu'à apporté à votre Maison la naissance du fils, dont Dieu Vous a voulu gratifier. C'est une occasion assez importante (ce me semble) qui donnera sujèt à tous vos amis de vous témoigner leur joïe. Pour moi je Vous prie de juger de la grandeur de la mienne par la tendresse que j'ai toûjours eu pour tout ce qui vous touche. Je tâcherai de vous en donner des preuves plus amples par celui qui de ma part s'acquittera des offices requis pour le bâteme. Cependant aïez pour moi & pour les assurances que je Vous donne la confiance que mérite la profession que je fais d'être

Jag är mycket intresserad av den lycka som födelsen av en son har fört Ert hus, som Gud har önskat ge Er. Det är ett ganska viktigt tillfälle (tyckas jag) som ger anledning till alla Era vänner att vittna om deras glädje. För mig, var snäll och bedöm min storhet efter den ömhet jag alltid har haft för allt som berör Er. Jag skall försöka ge Er mer omfattande bevis på det av den som för min del kommer att utföra de tjänster som krävs för dopet. Emellertid ha för mig och för försäkringarna som jag ger Er det förtroende som förtjänar det att jag ger mig ut att vara,

My Cousin,
I greatly take interest in the happiness which the birth of a son has brought to your house, which God has wished to bestow on you. It is a rather important occasion (it seems to me) which will give cause to all your friends to testify to you their joy. For me, please judge the greatness of mine by the tenderness I have always had for everything that concerns you. I will try to give you more ample proofs of it by the one who on my part will perform the services required for the baptism. In the meantime, have for me and for the assurances that I give you the confidence that merits the profession I make to be,
