Sig. Francesco Redi. Con la vostra lettera ho ricevuto anche il vostro libro, che m'è stato gratissimo per l'esperienze curiose, che contiene; onde ve ne ringrazio, e come m'avete dato per ciò motivo di fare stima della persona, e virtù vostra, così potete persuadervi della mia disposizione a mostrarvela nell'occasioni di favorirvi, e Dio vi prosperi.
Roma 26. Ottobre 1680.

Monsieur François Redi. Avec votre lettre, j'ai aussi reçu votre livre, qui m'a été très agréable pour les expériences curieuses qu'il contient; c'est pourquoi je vous en remercie, et comme vous m'avez donné raison d'estimer votre personne et votre vertu pour cela, ainsi vous pouvez vous persuader de ma volonté de vous le montrer à l'occasion de vous favoriser, et Dieu vous fasse prospérer.
