Messieurs, je ne puis pas refuser aux bons & fidéles services que me rend le Colonel Cleuter, l'appui de cette recommandation auprès de vous, pour vous prier de lui rendre une bonne & promte justice sur la prétention qu'il a avec Pierre de Persod, Marchand de votre Ville; vous assurant que de toutes les faveurs qu'il recevra de vous dans cette rencontre en ma considération, je vous en aurai une reconnoissance digne de l'amitié que vous me témoignerez en cette occasion, priant Dieu, &c.

Mina herrar,

Jag kan inte vägra att de goda och trogna tjänster som överste Cleuter, stödet av denna rekommendation till Er, ställt mig, att be Er att göra honom god och skyndsam rättvisa på det anspråk han har med Peter von Persod, köpman i Er stad; jag försäkrar Er att av alla de tjänster han kommer att få från Er i detta möte i min övervägande, kommer jag att ha Er en tacksamhet värdig vänskapen som Ni kommer att visa mig vid detta tillfälle, bedjande till Gud, osv.

English translation (my own):

Gentlemen,
