Jag skulle för den sonliga plikt jag alltid Eders Majestät är med tillbunden inte hava undlåtit att förlängst tillbörligen svara uppå de brev som greve Steinberger medbragte, men såsom jag då var i Dalarön stadder när bemälte greve här ankom, och efter den tiden med mitt numera, dess Gudi ske lov, välöverståndna bröllop, så många oundgängliga hinder förefallna äro, alltså haver jag icke förekunnat göra min håg och skyldighet tillfyllest. Vill fördenskull sonlig-tjänstligast förmoda att Eders Majestät av sin vanliga moderliga godhet emot mig detta dröjsmålet exkyserar och uti det övriga håller sig försäkrad att jag intet tillfälle skulle låta gå förbi till [att] visa den sonliga tacksamhet och ihågkommelse jag alltid bär för Eders Majestäts många och övermåttan stora moderliga välgärningar emot mig.
Eljest ock vad de ärender angår som bemälte greve är instruerad över, skall jag än vidare göra mig om de som äro informerad och mig uti det ena och andra således veta förklara som jag skattar för bäst och tilldrägligast vara, men vad generalguvernörens ämbete över Eders Majestäts underhållsländer belangar, vill jag förvänta Eders Majestäts ytterligare resolution och order.
Emellertid skall jag disponera herr Fleming och greve Steinberg att de bägge korrespondere till Eders Kungliga Majestäts tjänst och nytta. Jag härmed sluter och befaller Eders Majestät under den Högstes milda beskydd till all självbegärlig prosperitet och välmågo troligen och sonlig-tjänstligst; förblivandes städse

Pour le devoir filial dont je suis toujours obligé envers Votre Majesté, je n'aurais pas manqué de répondre dûment aux lettres que le comte Steinberg a apportées, mais comme j'étais alors à Dalarön lorsque ledit comte est arrivé ici, et après ce temps mon mariage depuis s'est bien passé, grâce à Dieu, tant d'obstacles inévitables sont apparus que je n'ai pas pu réaliser pleinement mon désir et mon obligation. Je veux donc supposer filialement et consciencieusement que Votre Majesté, par sa gentillesse maternelle habituelle envers moi, excuse ce retard et reste pour le reste assurée que je ne laisserai passer aucune occasion de témoigner la gratitude et le souvenir filiaux que je porte toujours pour les nombreuses et démesurées faveurs maternelles de Votre Majesté à mon égard.
Sinon, aussi en ce qui concerne les matières dont ledit comte est instruit, je me ferai en outre connaître à ceux qui sont informés et m'expliquerai ainsi dans l'un et l'autre chose de la manière que je jugerai la meilleure et la plus propre, mais en ce qui concerne la fonction de gouverneur-général sur les terres d'entretien de Votre Majesté, je veux attendre la nouvelle résolution et l'ordre de Votre Majesté.
En attendant, je m'arrangerai pour que le sieur Fleming et le comte Steinberg soient tous deux correspondants au service et au profit de Votre Majesté Royale. Most Powerful Queen, my highly honoured and favourable Lady Mother,
For the filial duty with which I am always obliged to Your Majesty, I would not have failed to duly reply to the letters that Count Steinberg brought, but as I was then in Dalarön when the said Count arrived here, and after that time my wedding since went off well, thank God, so many unavoidable obstacles have appeared that I have not been able to fulfill my desire and obligation to the fullest. I therefore want to filially and dutifully assume that Your Majesty, out of your usual motherly kindness towards me, excuses this delay and for the rest remains assured that I would not let any opportunity pass by to show the filial gratitude and remembrance I always bear for Your Majesty's many and inordinately great motherly favours towards me.
Otherwise, also with regard to the matters concerning which the said Count is instructed, I shall further make myself known to those who are informed and thus explain myself in the one and the other thing in what I deem to be the best and most appropriate way, but as for the office of Governor General over Your Majesty's maintenance lands, I want to await Your Majesty's further resolution and order.
In the meantime, I shall arrange for Lord Fleming and Count Steinberg to be both correspondents for Your Royal Majesty's service and benefit. I hereby conclude and faithfully, filially and servilely commend Your Majesty to the kind protection of the Most High and to all desirable prosperity and well-being; remaining always
