Är bäst att I gå hit på Stockholm att se här på staden ock de saker här [som] måste ställas i order och god författning.
Skulle I befinna bekvämligare till att gå landvägen igenom Danmark, då kunna I först laga Eder väg på Göteborg, dit Vi Oss ärne med allraförsta att begiva och därtill (om tid och till dess Vi avse huru den här inritna pesten sig vill anlåta) att förbliva. Vi have Eder detta till efterrättelse icke velat förhålla, befallandes Eder härmed Gud Allsmäktig, etc., etc.

Our especial favour, etc., etc., etc. Because We find, Lord Governor Schering Rosenhane, that your presence out there in Germany, and particularly in Bremen, where the commissioners are negotiating in Our and the Crown's affairs, is not needed, but here it is more necessary that you personally assume and carry out your office of governor, as also that you be nearer to Us if We need your rede or deed, it is therefore and hereby Our gracious will and command that you, at the very first opportunity, return here again, taking the sea route from Lübeck or Wismar. It is best that you go here to Stockholm to see the city and the things here that must be put in order and in good condition.
Should you find it more convenient to go overland through Denmark, then you can first make your way to Gothenburg, where We intend to at very first opportunity to go and to stay there (for a time, and until We determine how this entered plague wants to behave). For your information, We have not wanted to withhold this from you, hereby commending you to God Almighty, etc., etc.

Notes: In Swedish and the other main Continental Scandinavian languages, "råd eller dåd" literally means "counsel or deed". However, "råd" is cognate to the archaic English word "rede", which means "advice" or "counsel" and in its modern pronunciation rhymes with "deed", so I have wanted to maintain the rhyme of the words in both languages.
