Non haveva il Pontefice spedito le sue galee, perche la peste entrata in Napoli, e poco meno, che desolata quella nobil città; era passata in Roma, & in quella parte d'Italia, che giace trà l'Apennino, & il mare di sotto, faceva miserabile strage. Ma se l'armi sue non intervennero nella battaglia, partecipò egli del contento della Vittoria, e preso animo dall'allegrezza, applicò a maggiori soccorsi, eccitandone gli altri Principi con Brevi efficaci. S'accrescevano i contenti al Pontefice, perche Christina Reina di Svetia, rinuntiata spontaneamente la Corona con ammiratione del mondo, haveva con altrettanto applauso giunta in Brusselles abjurato l'heresia, e poi in Ispruch professata la vera fede. ...

Le pontife n'avait pas envoyé ses galères, parce que la peste était entrée à Naples et avait presque dévasté cette noble ville; elle était passée à Rome et dans cette partie de l'Italie qui s'étend entre les Apennins et la mer; elle faisait de misérables carnages. Mais si ses armes n'intervinrent pas dans la bataille, il partagea la joie de la victoire et, encouragé par ce bonheur, s'appliqua à apporter un plus grand secours, incitant les autres princes à le faire par des brefs efficaces. La joie du pontife fut accrue parce que Christine, reine de Suède, ayant spontanément renoncé à la couronne, à l'admiration du monde, était arrivée à Bruxelles avec les mêmes applaudissements pour abjurer l'hérésie, puis à Innsbruck pour professer la vraie foi. ...

Påven hade inte skickat sina galärer eftersom pesten hade kommit in i Neapel och nästan hade ödelagt den ädla staden; den hade gått in i Rom och i den del av Italien som ligger mellan Apenninerna och havet nedanför; den orsakade ett eländigt blodbad. Men om hans armar inte ingrep i striden, deltog han i segerns glädje och, uppmuntrad av lyckan, ansökte han om större hjälp och uppmanade de andra prinsarna att göra det med effektiva brev. Påvens glädje ökade eftersom Kristina, Sveriges drottning, spontant avsagt sig kronan, till världens beundran, med lika applåder anlänt till Bryssel för att avvärja kätteri, och sedan i Innsbruck bekände hon sig till den sanna tron. ...

The Pontiff had not sent his galleys because the plague had entered Naples and had almost desolated that noble city; it had passed into Rome and in that part of Italy which lies between the Apennines and the sea below; it was causing miserable carnage. But if his arms did not intervene in the battle, he shared in the joy of victory and, encouraged by the happiness, applied himself to greater aid, inciting the other princes to do so with effective briefs. The Pontiff's joy increased because Kristina, Queen of Sweden, having spontaneously renounced the Crown, to the admiration of the world, had with equal applause arrived in Brussels to abjure heresy, and then in Innsbruck she professed the true faith. ...
