"C'est ici où Galdenblad entre plus avant dans le détail des conversions qu'il avoit facilitées. Il s'estime heureux d'avoir su tirer de Suède ses deux Fréres Laurent & Jean, contre la volonté de son Pére & de sa Mére, & de les avoir ramenés à sa croyance. L'abjuration du premier, dit-il, ne s'est pu faire si secrettement à Rome, qu'elle ne fût sue en Suède. L'ainé avoit donc écrit à ses Parens, que s'ils vouloient que Laurent (qu'il avoit dejà envoyé à ses fraix en Hongrie contre le Turc) revînt en Suède, ils n'avoient qu'à lui envoyer son Frére cadet Jean à Rome, pour le conduire. Ce tour de Jésuite lui réussit, & le cadet, quoiqu'avec bien de la répugnance, embrassa la Religion Catholique avec un Liunberg, & deux autres Suédois, qui semblent avoir eu quelque commission pour la Reine (Miscell. Polit. p. 3-6. & 35.).
André Galdenblad ne laissa pas de faire part à la Reine des progrès des conversions qu'il faisoit. Il loue fort la joie & la satisfaction que Christine en avoit témoignée. Mais quand il lui voulut excroquer des sommes pour des Néophytes, elle lui répondit tout simplement: «Vous pouvez les assurer tous de ma protection, pourvu qu'il ne me coûte rien; car je n'ai point d'argent présentement.» Une autre fois la Reine lui dit: «Je vous promets ma protection autant que ma pauvreté pourra y fournir.» Par bonheur les finances de Christine étoient très-délabrées en ce tems-là, sans quoi il est à croire que Galdenblad auroit attiré à lui un plus grand nombre de Suédois. Le Pape avoit fait des dépenses énormes à la réception de la Reine à Rome, dans l'intention que plusieurs grandes Familles en Suède & en Allemagne suivroient l'exemple de Christine, & se feroient Catholiques (V. Mém. de Christine T. I. p. 514. & T. II. p. 83-110.). Ces deux sources étant si fort épuisées, ne laissérent que peu de reste pour être employé aux nouveaux Convertis, qui se réduisoient à peu de personnes."
"It is here that Galdenblad goes into greater detail about the conversions he facilitated. He considers himself fortunate to have been able to bring his two brothers, Lars and Johan, from Sweden against the wishes of his father and mother, and to have brought them back to his faith. The abjuration of the former, he says, could not have been carried out so secretly in Rome that it would not have been known in Sweden. The elder brother had therefore written to his parents that if they wanted Lars (whom he had already sent at his own expense to Hungary against the Turks) to return to Sweden, they only had to send his younger brother, Johan, to Rome to escort him. This Jesuit trick worked for him, and the younger brother, although with much repugnance, embraced the Catholic religion with a Ljungberg and two other Swedes, who seem to have had some commission for the Queen (Miscellanea politica, pages 3-6 and 35.).
Andreas Galdenblad kept the Queen informed of the progress of his conversions. He greatly praised the joy and satisfaction that Kristina had shown him. But when he tried to extort money from her for the neophytes, she simply replied: 'You can assure them all of my protection, provided it costs me nothing; for I have no money at present.'
On another occasion, the Queen told him: 'I promise you my protection as much as my poverty allows.'
Fortunately, Kristina's finances were very precarious at that time; otherwise, it is likely that Galdenblad would have attracted a greater number of Swedes to his cause. The Pope had spent enormous sums on the Queen's reception in Rome, hoping that several prominent families in Sweden and Germany would follow Kristina's example and become Catholic (See Mémoires de Christine, volume I, page 514, and volume II, pages 83-110.). These two sources being so thoroughly exhausted, little remained to be used for the new converts, who numbered only a few."

The incomparable zeal that Your Royal Majesty has for the true Catholic faith makes me bold enough to most humbly supplicate that it please Your Royal Majesty to give your most gracious patronage to another of my brothers, whom I have, by the grace of God, albeit somewhat with difficulty, brought so far that he is now enlightened and that within a few days he will make his abjuration and that Your Royal Majesty would deign to let him come before your most gracious face to make his most humble prostration.
It's agreed! I promise you protection as far as the term of my poverty will be able to provide for it.

Note: Andreas Galdenblad was very active in converting travelling Swedes to Catholicism and succeeded — against his parents' wishes — in attracting his two younger brothers, Lars and Johan, to Rome; they converted in 1683 and 1685 respectively. Andreas himself had converted in Namur in 1671, changing his last name from Browald to Galdenblad, and in 1674 he arrived in Rome and became Kristina's secretary for her Swedish correspondence from 1677 until her death in 1689. Andreas died in 1698.
