Affinis perdilecte

Mutua quæ mihi tecum intercedit conjunctio, non permittit ut aliquam occasionem scribendi ad te intermittam, etsi nihil mihi occurrat scriptione magnopere dignum. Vnicum hoc scias velim, filium tuum juniorem ita acriter studijs incumbere, ut speret se brevi temporis intervallo nobis doctiorem fore, quod tamen nos adhuc non potuimus induci, ut crederemus futurum. Deum ter opt. max. assidue rogabimus ut studia et actiones nostras ab utraque parte secundet, cujus divinæ protectioni te commendo.

Durchlauchtigaste Furste och Pfalzgreve,

Kärälsklige kusin,

Det ömsesidiga bandet mellan Er och mig tillåter mig inte att försumma Er någon möjlighet att skriva till Er, även om inget av stor vikt kommer till mig i skrift. Jag vill att Ni bara skall veta detta, att Er yngre son är så angelägen om sina studier, att han hoppas att han inom en kort tid kommer att bli mer lärd av oss; vi kommer tre gånger att be den store Gud att alltid vara på båda sidor, så att våra strävanden och handlingar kan bli framgångsrika, till vars gudomliga beskydd jag befaller Er.

Most Illustrious Prince, Count Palatine,

Beloved cousin,

The mutual bond between you and me does not allow me to neglect you any opportunity of my writing to you, even though nothing of great importance comes to me in writing. I would like you to know this only, that your younger son is so keen on his studies that he hopes that in a short space of time he will be more learned from us; we will thrice beseech the great God to be always on both sides, so that our pursuits and actions may be successful, to whose divine protection I commend you.
