Nu sedan Wij förnimme, att Hele Hallandh Oß och Sweriges Chrono Offereras, göre J Wäl att J ther widh Hafwe urgerat, Först på een deel af Blekingen, Sedan och, att begge eller etthera måtte cederas ewerdeligen. Vi fingo igår Edert brev, daterat Söderåkra den 21 hujus, och se därav huru vitt mediatoren de la Thuilerie var kommen, och de danska genom honom hade offererat Eder hela Halland till underpant och försäkring på vissa år; men I ändå stodo an och begärade därtill en del av Blekingen och att konditionerna av en underpant måtte förändras i en evärdelig cession.
Nu skrevo Vi den 25 hujus härifrån [Uppsala] Eder till vad vår yttersta mening var om conditionibus pacis, därpå I ock kunde sluta med Danmark; veta de intet till förändra, men låta därvid bevända. Nu sedan Vi förnimme att hela Halland Oss och Sveriges Krono offereras, göra I väl att I därvid hava urgerat, först på en del av Blekingen, sedan ock att bägge eller ettdera måtte cederas evärdeligen, ty panträttigheten skall icke allenast vid retentionen (där landen eljest hålles med spetsfinger) förorsaka diffikulteten, utan ock vid dess avträdande kausera nya besvär. Därföre tycker Oss vara bättre att I hellre skulle taga Halland till evärdelig cession (där den stode till nå); då vedertager vad I kunna obtinera och Eder tillbjudes, och därmed i Herrens namn sluta allt som Vi Eder näst för detta månde tilltro; och befalle Eder härmed Gud Allsmäktig synnerlig[en] nådeligen.

Nous avons reçu hier votre lettre, datée de Söderåkra, le 21 du courant, et Nous y voyons jusqu'où était allé le médiateur de la Thuilerie, et les Danois, par son intermédiaire, vous avaient offert tout le Halland comme garantie et assurance pour certaines années; mais vous avez insisté encore et demandé en outre une partie du Blekinge et que les conditions d'une garantie soient changées en une cession perpétuelle.
Nous vous avons écrit le 25 du courant [d'Upsal] concernant Nos intentions concernant les conditions de paix que vous pourriez aussi conclure avec le Danemark; ils ne voient aucun changement à apporter, mais ils laissent les choses telles quelles. Or, comme Nous voyons que la totalité du Halland Nous est offerte, ainsi qu'à la Couronne de Suède, vous avez bien fait de Nous l'imposer, d'abord sur une partie du Blekinge, puis sur la cession perpétuelle des deux ou de l'un d'eux. Car le droit de gage engendrerait non seulement des difficultés de conservation (si les terres sont détenues du bout des doigts), mais aussi de nouveaux troubles lors de sa cession. Nous pensons donc qu'il est préférable que vous preniez le Halland à perpétuité (si tel était le cas jusqu'à présent); acceptez ensuite ce que vous pouvez obtenir et ce qui vous est offert, et ainsi, au nom du Seigneur, concluez tout ce que Nous vous confierons en dehors de cela; et par la présente, Nous vous recommandons tous gracieusement à Dieu Tout-Puissant.

Our especial favour, etc.
Faithful men and commissioners to the Danish peace treaty,
We received your letter yesterday, dated Söderåkra on the 21st of this month, and We see from it how far the mediator de la Thuilerie had come, and the Danes through him had offered you all of Halland as collateral and insurance for certain years; but you still insisted and requested in addition a part of Blekinge and that the conditions of a collateral should be changed into a perpetual cession.
Now, We wrote on the 25th of this month from here [Uppsala] to you about Our ultimate intention regarding the conditions of peace, upon which you could also conclude with Denmark; they know nothing to change, but they let it remain as is. Now, as we perceive that the whole of Halland is being offered to Us and the Crown of Sweden, you do well to have urged it, first on a part of Blekinge, then also that both or one of them should be ceded in perpetuity, for the right of pledge will not only cause difficulties in retention (if the lands are otherwise held with a fingertip), but also in its cession cause new troubles. We therefore think it better that you should rather take Halland in perpetuity (if it stood until now); then accept what you can obtain and are offered to you, and thereby, in the Lord's name, conclude everything that We will entrust to you aside from this; and We hereby graciously commend all of you to God Almighty.
