Mon Cousin. Je serois au désespoir d'être cause que la fête, que vous préparez, fut troublée en ma considération, & puisque l'on souhaite que Vous la différiez, je Vous prie aussi de donner cette satisfaction à vos amis. Je serois ravie de pouvoir différer mon voiage jusques au mois de Mai: mais mes affaires ne me permettant pas de différer plus longtems mon départ, m'obligent d'une nécessité absoluë de me rendre au plûtôt à Hambourg. J'espére que vous recevrez mes excuses aussi bien que celles de ces Messieurs, & que Vous me permettrez de partir, sans vous causer autre incommodité que celle de vous dire adieu par une lettre, que je vous écrirai avant que de partir, pour vous assurer que je suis

Min Kusin,
Jag vore förtvivlad över att få festen som Ni förbereder att bli störd i min övervägande, och eftersom man vill att Ni skall skjuta upp den, ber jag Er också att ge denna tillfredsställelse till Era vänner. Jag skulle gärna kunna skjuta upp min resa till maj; men mina affärer, som inte tillåter mig att skjuta upp min avresa längre, tvingar mig att åka till Hamburg istället. Jag hoppas att Ni kommer att få min ursäkt såväl som de här herrarnas, och att Ni vill tillåta mig lämna, utan att orsaka Er några andra besvär än att säga Er farväl genom ett brev, som jag kommer att skriva till Er innan jag åker, för att försäkra Er att jag är

I would be in despair to cause the feast that you are preparing to be disturbed in my consideration, and since it is desired that you postpone it, I beg you also to give this satisfaction to your friends. I would be delighted to be able to postpone my trip until May; but my affairs, not allowing me to postpone my departure any longer, oblige me to go to Hamburg instead. I hope that you will receive my apologies as well as those of these gentlemen, and that you will allow me to leave without causing you any inconvenience other than that of saying goodbye to you via a letter which I will write to you before I leave, to assure you that I am,
