... [M. Gassendi] a été tout étonné quand je l'ai assuré que M. Izaacus Vossius étoit à Paris, par ordre de sa maîtresse, la reine de Suède, pour y acheter des livres manuscrits, etc. Il le croyoit encore en Suède, et dit qu'il n'y a personne en Hollande qui sache que M. Vossius soit ici, et etiam videtur suspicari causam istius peregrinationis. ...
... Le marchand qui ... loge [les deux honnêtes hommes] est un nommé M. Bidal, lequel fournit tous les ans pour 50,000 écus d'étoffe à la reine de Suède, et cette année il en fournit pour 100,000, à cause de son couronnement, qui sera somptueux. Ce M. Vossius achète ici grande quantité de bons livres pour sa maîtresse. Il dit que sa bibliothèque sera la plus belle de l'Europe, et qu'elle surpassera de beaucoup celle du cardinal Mazarin, que M. Naudé leur a fait voir depuis trois jours. Il cherche particulièrement plusieurs manuscrits. ...

... Monsieur Gassendi blev ganska förvånad när jag försäkrade honom att herr Isaacus Vossius var i Paris, på befallning av sin härskarinna, Sveriges Drottning, för att köpa handskrivna böcker m.m. Han trodde han var ännu i Sverige och sade att det inte finns någon i Holland som vet att herr Vossius är här, etiam videtur suspicari causam istius peregrinationis. ...
... Köpmannen, som inhyser de två hederliga männen, är en som heter monsieur Bidal, som årligen tillför Sveriges Drottning 50,000 kronor tyg, och i år tillför han 100,000, på grund av hennes kröning, som kommer att bli överdådig. Denne herr Vossius köper här ett stort antal goda böcker åt sin härskarinna. Han säger att hennes bibliotek kommer att bli det finaste i Europa och att det vida kommer att överträffa kardinal Mazarins, som monsieur Naudé har visat dem i tre dagar. Han letar särskilt efter flera manuskript. ...

The merchant who accommodates the two honest men is one named Monsieur Bidal, who annually supplies 50,000 crowns of cloth to the Queen of Sweden, and this year he supplies 100,000, on account of her coronation, which will be sumptuous.
