Relation envoïée à la Reine Christine quand le Roi Charles XI. eut le malheur de se casser la jambe.
Les notes marginales sont de sa propre main.
Le Roi a eu des douleurs très-vives tout le tems que la jambe n'a pas été remise, & lorsqu'on devoit la remettre, il a couru risque de succomber. Il s'étoit préparé à la mort, & par un testament il avoit ordonné la forme du Gouvernement. (J'ai quelque soupçon que ce testament a été fait à plaisir par les François, qui me haïssent mortellement. Dites-moi la vérité de ce qu'il en est?) Le Comte Jean Stenbock devoit être Drotset, Aschenberg Connêtable, Hans Wachtmeister Amiral, le Comte Bengt Chancelier, Clas Flemming Trésorier. Tous les vieux Sénateurs seroient congédiés & à leur place il y en auroit huit nouveaux, & entr'eux Christopher Gyllenstierna, Hastfer, Lilliecron, Gyldenhoff, Drenstée, Ehrensten, Cronschiöld & le Bourguemaitre Tegner. Lindschiöld devoit-être le Chancelier de la Cour. Quelques-uns comptent Axel Wachtmeister entre les Sénateurs à la place d'Ehrensten, d'autres disent qu'il seroit Général des Maisons ou des Gardes du Roi, qui est la charge qu'il ambitionnoit à présent. Le dessein étant de faire Hastfer Gouverneur Général de Scanie après qu'Aschenberg seroit devenu Sénateur, mais comme ce dernier a protesté de ne vouloir pas quitter le Gouvernement, Hastfer demeure où il est, & Axel de même, lequel aïant aussi brigué la Charge du Grand Ecuïer, en est écarté par l'opposition du Comte Stenbock, qui l'a présentement & la posséde avec celle de Grand Maître. La Reine étant enceinte de plus de quatre mois, si elle avoit un Mâle, il étoit destiné Successeur, si non, la Princesse étoit recommandée à l'éxemple de ce qui fut fait à la mort du Grand Gustave. (Belle recommandation pour l'enfant qui est à naître.) Au maintient de ce testament tous les Officiers des Gardes se devoient obliger par serment sur peine de la vie. Mais le mal du Roi aïant cesse, le testament a été mis au feu. (Ceci est incomparable.)
On a fait courir le bruit d'une autre Cabale contre la précédente sous la protection de la France, dont Mr. Königsmarck seroit le Chef, lequel en étant aigri, aura, s'il peut, satisfaction, de ceux qui ont semé ce bruit.
Il y a des Sénateurs qui maintenant sont menaçés d'actions criminelles à la Grande Commission, principalement le Grand Drotset, le Maréchal Baner & Gustave Kurck & l'Acteur est parti pour Kongsoer pour en prendre les ordres. On donne sous main avis aux vieux Sénateurs de faire des soumissions au Roi, & deprecando causam, de demander d'être licentiés de leurs charges, moïennant quoi & avec l'aveu d'être coupables, on leur fait espérer leur grace, mais on doute fort que ce conseil soit suivi. Il semble qu'on est un peu embarrassé par la nouvelle alliance avec la Hollande & on voudroit bien éviter qu'elle fut suivie d'une guerre, pourquoi il faudra une prudence consommée. (Si on demeure dans le partie de l'Empire on n'aura rien à craindre, mais s'y l'on le quitte on perdra tout infailliblement.) Ceux qui se mêlent de prédire les choses à venir, prétendent que le Roi aura bientôt un malheur plus grand que celui qu'il a eu: duquel pour le moins il portera des marques toute sa vie, & on dit que le malheur passé a été aussi prédit, & que le Roi même a été averti dans une vision de ne point aller à Kongsoer. (Ecrivez-moi tout ce que vous en savez si les prédictions sont véritables.)

Konungen hade mycket skarpa smärtor hela tiden att hans ben inte lades tillbaka, och när det skulle läggas tillbaka löpte han risk att ge vika. Han hade förberett sig på döden och genom testamente hade han förordnat regeringsformen. (Jag har en viss misstanke om att detta testamente gjordes av fransmännen, som hatar mig dödligt. Berätta sanningen om det?) Greve Johan Stenbock skulle bli Riksdrotsen, von Ascheberg skulle bli Riksmarsken, Hans Wachtmeister skulle bli Amiralen, greve Bengt skulle bli Rikskanslern, och Claes Fleming skulle bli Riksskattmästaren. Alla de gamla rådsmännen skulle avskedas och i deras ställe skulle det komma åtta nya, och bland dem Kristofer Gyllenstierna, Hastfer, Lilliecrona, Gyldenhoff, Drenstée, Ehrenstéen, Cronskiöld och Thegner borgmästaren. Lindschöld skulle bli hovkansler. En del räknar Axel Wachtmeister till rådsmännen i stället för Ehrenstéen, andra säger att han skulle vara general för husen eller för Konungens garde, vilket är det ämbete han nu eftersträvar. Avsikten var att göra Hastfer till generalguvernör i Skåne efter von Ascheberg hade blivit rådsman, men då denne protesterade mot att vilja lämna regeringen blev Hastfer kvar där han var och Axel likaså, som ock hade kandiderat för överhovstallmästare, avlägsnas från den av greve Stenbocks opposition, som för närvarande har den och innehar den med stormästarens. Alldenstund Drottningen var mer än fyra månader gravid, om hon hade en pojke, var han tänkt som efterträdare; om ej, rekommenderades prinsessan att följa exemplet vad som gjordes vid Gustav den stores död. (En underbar rekommendation för det ofödda barnet.) När detta testamente upprätthålls måste alla gardeofficerare förplikta sig själva med ed vid pen och död. Men efter att Konungens skada upphörde, kastades testamentet i elden. (Detta är ojämförligt.)
Ett rykte sprids om en annan kabal mot den föregående under Frankrikes beskydd, för vilken Herr Königsmark skulle vara ledare, som, eftersom han är bitter, kommer att få, om han kan, tillfredsställelsen av dem som började detta rykte.
Det finns rådsmän som nu hotas med kriminella handlingar vid Storkommissionen, främst Riksdrotsen, Marskalken Banér och Gustav Kurck, och aktören har åkt till Kungsör för att ta order. Gamla rådsmän är under hand om att göra underkastelser till Konungen och, deprecando causam, att begära att bli avskedade från sina befattningar, i utbyte mot vilket och med erkännande av att de är skyldiga, de får hoppas på sin benådning, men en tvivlar mycket på att detta råd kommer att följas. Det verkar som att man är lite generad över den nya alliansen med Holland och man skulle vilja undvika att den följdes av ett krig, varför man kommer att behöva en fulländad försiktighet. (Om man förblir i Imperium-delen har man inget att frukta, men om man lämnar det kommer man oundvikligen att förlora allt.) De som förutsäger saker som tillkommer hävdar att Konungen snart kommer att ha en större olycka än den som han redan hade, av vilken han åtminstone kommer att bära ärren hela sitt liv, och det sägs, att även denna förgångna olycka förutspåddes, och att Konungen själv varnades i en syn att inte gå till Kungsör. (Skriv allt Ni vet till mig om förutsägelserna är sanna.)
