... Vous nous faites une peinture de la reine Christine tout autre que celle qu'on avait envoyée de Rome; pour en bien parler, il faudrait que vous l'eussiez vue davantage. Elle fut les premiers jours en admiration à Rome, et ce n'a été que le temps qui lui a fait perdre à la fin ce qu'elle avait gagné au commencement. On ne peut nier qu'elle n'ait de l'esprit, et lorsqu'elle veut se contraindre elle fait merveille. ...

... Ni målar oss en bild av Drottning Kristina helt annorlunda än den vi hade skickat från Rom; för att prata om henne bra måste Ni ha sett henne mer. Hon var vördnad för Rom under de första dagarna, och det var bara tiden som gjorde att hon till slut förlorade vad hon hade vunnit i början. Det går inte att förneka att hon har kvickhet, och när hon vill behärska sig själv gör hon underverk. ...

... You paint us a picture of Queen Kristina quite different from the one we had sent from Rome; to talk about her well, you would have to have seen her more. She was in awe of Rome for the first few days, and it was only time that made her lose in the end what she had gained in the beginning. It cannot be denied that she has wit, and when she wants to constrain herself she does wonders. ...
