Le 29. Juin, 1668.

Madame la Comtesse de Dhona, j'ai reçu avec estime la Lettre que vous m'avez écrite, pour me communiquer la mort du Comte de Dhona votre Mari, à laquelle je prends autant d'intérêt, que l'amitié & l'affection qu'il m'a toujours témoignée peuvent exiger de moi. Je vous remercie des expressions que vous employez en cette occasion, vous assurant de ma reconnoissance, & de l'amitié que j'aurai toujours pour votre personne. Pour les intérêts des quatre mille écus, je vous prie d'avoir encore un peu de patience, & d'être persuadée que j'aurai soin de vous satisfaire au-plutôt. Cependant je prie Dieu qu'il vous console, & qu'il vous tienne en sa sainte garde.

Swedish translation (my own):

Madam Grevinnan Dohna, jag fick med uppskattning det brev Ni skrev till mig, för att meddela mig döden till Greven Dohna, Er make, där jag är lika intresserad som vänskap och tillgivenhet som han alltid betygade mig kan kräva av mig. Jag tackar Er för de uttryck Ni använder vid detta tillfälle och försäkrar Er om min tacksamhet och för den vänskap som jag alltid kommer att ha för Er. För intressen för de fyra tusen kronorna ber jag Er att ha lite mer tålamod och bli övertygad om att jag kommer att se till att tillfredsställa Er så snart som möjligt. Men jag ber till Gud att han tröstar Er och att han håller Er i sin heliga vård.

English translation (my own):

June 29, 1668.

Madame the Countess Dohna, I have received with esteem the letter you wrote to me to communicate to me the death of the Count Dohna your husband, in which I take as much interest as the friendship and affection that he always testified to me may require of me. I thank you for the expressions you use on this occasion, assuring you of my gratitude and of the friendship that I will always have for you. As for the interests of the four thousand crowns, I beg you to have a little more patience, and to be convinced that I will take care to satisfy you as soon as possible. In the meantime, I pray God to console you and to keep you in His holy care.
