"Ce ne fut pas seulement le libre exercice de Religion pour elle & sa suite, quand elle viendroit en Suède, qui lui tenoit si fort à cœur; mais encore plus, l'échange de ses Domaines, tant en Suède qu'en Poméranie contre le Duché de Bréme, pour s'en former un Etat en propre, dépendant pourtant de la Souveraineté de Suède (Mémoires de Christine T. II. p. 118.); c'est pourquoi Christine écrivit à l'Envoyé Rosenbac (Lettere a' suoi Ministri p. 15. le 13. Juill. 1668. II Lett. a diversi p. 216.)..."

"It was not only the free exercise of religion for herself and her suite, when she came to Sweden, that she held so close to her heart; but even more so, the exchange of her domains, both in Sweden and in Pomerania, for the Duchy of Bremen, in order to form a state of her own — dependent, however, on the sovereignty of Sweden (Mémoires de Christine, vol. II, p. 118.); this is why Kristina wrote to the envoy Rosenbach (Lettere ai suoi ministri, p. 15, July 13, 1668; II Lettere a diversi, p. 216.)..."

The letter:

Je sais qu'on tâchera de vous faire accroire, que l'affaire de Bréme est désespérée, & que la proposition sera tout-à-fait inutile. Mais il ne faut pas que vous vous arrêtiez aux discours qu'on vous tiendra là-dessus: au contraire, c'est alors qu'il faut l'entreprendre avec plus de vigueur & de soin. Ce que je vous ordonne de faire, car cette affaire n'est pas si difficile à réussir qu'on le pense.

English translation (my own):

I know that they will try to make you believe that the Bremen affair is desperate, and that the proposal will be quite useless. But you must not stop at the discourses that will be given to you on this subject: on the contrary, it is then that you must undertake it with more vigour and care. Which I order you to do, because this affair is not that difficult to succeed in as you think.
