Si les affaires de Hollande m'ont affligée, vous pouvez vous imaginer en quelle humeur je me trouve depuis les nouvelles de Pologne. Il y a aujourd'hui une congregation ici. Dieu sait ce qui y sera conclu. J'estime qu'on envoyera à la pauvre Pologne la Bénédiction in articulo mortis. Dieu me pardonne cette petite raillerie. Il me fâche d'avoir été Prophéte. Vous le savez. Les malheurs de la Hongrie vous seront aussi connus. En général toute l'Europe est dans un état qui mérite qu'on en rie, & qu'on la plaigne.
