Although Kristina was in the care of her/his/their aunt Katarina, her/his/their other primary carer was Lucretia Schlezer, a highly respected woman from Berlin who was married to the physician Dr. Johann Schlezer and a daughter of Dr. Friedrich Pruckmann, who was doctor to the Chancellor of Brandenburg. Gustav Adolf and Maria Eleonora had great trust in her and even nicknamed her "Dokterin", meaning "Mrs. Doctor". She was always "busy and diligent", and she too doted on Kristina and often kept Maria informed about the child's health. It was a great wrench to Maria when she learned in the spring of 1632 that Lucretia wanted to ask for permission to leave her service.

The letter excerpt:

Ich versicher' E. Ld., daß ich sie nicht missen von meinem Kinde will; es mag kosten, was es will.

With modernised spelling:

Ich versicher Eure Liebden, dass ich sie nicht missen von meinem Kinde will; es mag kosten, was es will.

French translation (my own):

J'assure Votre Dilection que je ne la perdrai pas de mon enfant; qu'il coûte ce qu'il veut.

Swedish translation (my own):

Jag försäkrar Ers Kärlighet att jag inte vill missa henne från mitt barn; det må kosta vad den vill.

English translation (my own):

I assure Your Lovingness that I will not lose her from my Child; may it cost what it will.
