The instructions (translated by Arckenholtz into French from Italian):

I. Il tâchera de pénétrer, quand le Roi sera majeur.

II. Quel est son caractére?

III. A qui il donne sa confiance?

IV. Quels sentimens il garde envers sa Mére?

V. Il s'informera qui sont ceux des Suédois qui me conservent encore leur affection?

VI. Il établira mes affaires de façon que je puisse jouir de mes rentes, quand même je voudrois me retirer dans un Monastére, à quoi j'estime fortement, & ce que j'aurois déjà exécuté, si je n'avois pas douté d'être privée de ma pension.

VII. Il me procurera la liberté de vendre une de mes Terres en Poméranie ou en Oesel, & de s'informer de laquelle on pourroit tirer le plus d'espéces. Je voudrois que ce fût Baart, ou quelque autre en Poméranie.

VIII. Il demandera la navigation libre pour l'Ile d'Oelande: ce qui contribuera beaucoup à l'amélioration de cette Ile, & par conséquent augmentera mes Droits d'entrée.

IX. Il observera qu'il ne faut pas traitter l'affaire des Droits d'entrée dans le Monastére, comme si elle étoit hors de tout doute, mais seulement d'en découvrir les inclinations, & faire connoître qu'on ne sauroit sans injustice altérer mes Conventions avec le Roi & le Royaume, même en ce cas-là, & pour cet effet il faut s'en assurer sans se porter préjudice.

X. Il faudra se faire rendre compte des contributions extraordinaires réglées dans les Diettes passées, & à la prochaine, afin que je jouisse de la portion qui m'en revient, & qu'elle ne soit pas usurpée par le Roi, mais que j'en sois indemnisée sans aucun rabais.

Je confie tous ces points, avec le plus grand empressement, à la fidélité & à la prudence du Marquis.

LA REINE.

XI. Parmi mes prétentions se trouve aussi celle des subsides que la France me doit, & qui montent à sept ou huit cens mille écus. Mais cette Couronne n'a jamais voulu reconnoître cette dette. Cependant on me promit qu'en cas que la Suède se liguât de-nouveau avec la France, elle me seroit bonifiée. A-présent ce cas ayant existé actuellement, il me suffira d'avoir une Lettre du Roi de Suède pour le Roi de France, afin de rendre ma prétention authentique. Je ne prétends pas être payée de ce qu'on donnera de-nouveau à la Suède. Mais je me ferai payer par une autre voye, sans qu'il en résulte aucun préjudice à la Suède.

I. Han skall ta reda på när Konungen blir myndig.

II. Vad är dess karaktär?

III. Vem anförtror han sig till?

IV. Vilka känslor har han för sin mor?

V. Han skall fråga vilka av de svenskar som fortfarande behåller sin tillgivenhet för mig?

VI. Han skall inrätta mina affärer så att jag kan njuta av min inkomst, även om jag skulle vilja dra mig tillbaka till ett kloster, som jag uppskattar högt och som jag redan skulle ha verkställt, om jag inte hade tvivlat på att jag fråntogs min pension.

VII. Det kommer att ge mig friheten att sälja en av mina gods i Pommern eller Ösel, och ta reda på vilken som kan få mest kontanter. Jag önskar att det var Barth, eller någon annan i Pommern.

VIII. Han skall be om fri navigering för ön Öland, vilket kommer att bidra mycket till förbättringen av denna ö, och följaktligen skall öka min rätt till inresa.

IX. Han skall observera att det inte är nödvändigt att behandla affären om rätten till inträde i klostret, som om det vore ställt utom allt tvivel, utan bara att upptäcka böjelserna därav och att göra känt att man inte skulle kunna utan orättvisa att ändra mina konventioner med Konungen och riket, även i detta fall, och för detta ändamål är det nödvändigt att försäkra sig om det utan att skada sig själv.

X. Det blir nödvändigt att göra en redogörelse för de extraordinära bidrag som reglerats i de förgångna Riksdagarna och i nästa, så att jag får njuta av den del, som tillhör mig, och att den inte tillskansas av Konungen, utan att jag kompenseras utan rabatt.

Jag anförtror alla dessa punkter, med största iver, till markisens trohet och försiktighet.

XI. Till mina anspråk hör också de subventioner som Frankrike är skyldig mig och som uppgår till sju eller åtta hundra tusen kronor. Men denna Krona har aldrig velat erkänna denna skuld. Däremot blev jag lovad att om Sverige skulle slå sig samman med Frankrike igen så skulle hon ha det bättre för mig. Nu när detta fall faktiskt har funnits, räcker det för mig att ha ett brev från Sveriges Konung för Konungen av Frankrike för att göra mitt påstående giltigt. Jag gör inte anspråk på att få betalt för det som skall givas tillbaka till Sverige. Men jag skall få mig själv betalt på annat sätt, utan att Sverige blir till följd därav.

English translation (my own):

VII. It will give me the freedom to sell one of my estates in Pomerania or Ösel, and find out which one can get the most cash. I wish it were Barth, or some other in Pomerania.

IX. X. It will be necessary to make an account of the extraordinary contributions regulated in the past Riksdags, and in the next, so that I may enjoy the portion which belongs to me, and that it be not usurped by the King, but that I be compensated without any discount.

I entrust all these points, with the greatest eagerness, to the fidelity and prudence of the Marquis.

XI. Among my claims is also that of the subsidies which France owes me, and which amount to seven or eight hundred thousand crowns. But this Crown has never wanted to recognise this debt. However, I was promised that in case Sweden should join forces again with France, she would be better off for me. Now, this case having actually existed, it will suffice for me to have a letter from the King of Sweden for the King of France in order to render my claim authentic. I do not claim to be paid for what will be given back to Sweden. But I shall get myself paid by another way, without any prejudice to Sweden resulting therefrom.
