Vos deux lettres des 17 et 21 du passé n'appellent plus de réponse concernant mes intérêts, hormis une sur l'accord conclu avec Momma, car, comme il vous l'a déjà remontré, Texeira n'en est pas satisfait, surtout en raison du préjudice et des pertes qu'il encourt durant l'hiver, lorsque le transport du cuivre et du laiton que Momma doit lui attribuer à Norrköping devient impossible. Et pourtant, Momma insiste pour que Texeira verse une avance correspondant aux deux tiers des marchandises, une exigence qui ferait peser sur Texeira une charge financière considérable durant ces cinq ou six mois d'hiver, ainsi que vous pourrez mieux le voir à la lecture de la copie que je vous adresse de ce qu'il m'a écrit à ce sujet précis (bien que je me persuade que vous avez déjà entendu de sa bouche ces mêmes propos); et il me semble qu'il est dans son droit en cette affaire. Era två brev av den 17 och 21 förra månaden kräver inget ytterligare svar angående mina intressen, förutom ett om uppgörelsen med Momma, ty, som han säkert har remonstrerat Er, säger sig Texeira inte vara nöjd med det, särskilt på grund av den fördom och förlust han är utsatt för under vintern, när transporten av koppar och mässing som Momma skall tilldela honom i Norrköping blir omöjlig. Your two letters of the 17th and 21st of this past month require no further response regarding my interests, except one on the settlement made with Momma, for, as he will have remonstrated to you, Texeira does not call himself satisfied with it, particularly due to the prejudice and loss to which he remains exposed during the winter, when the transport of the copper and brass that Momma is to allocate to him in Norrköping becomes impossible. And yet Momma insists that Texeira advance payment for two thirds of the goods, a demand which would see Texeira carrying a substantial financial burden during those five or six months of winter, as you will see better from the copy I am sending you of what he has written to me on this specific matter (although I persuade myself that you have already heard the same things from him); and it seems to me that he is in the right in this matter, wherefore one see to it to adjust this interest in such a way that Texeira rests content. Otherwise, nothing has truly been done, as you yourself can well know.
It is necessary that Momma still come to a just accord and not have more regard for his own interest than mine; but he should carefully consider the convenience of not promptly forcing him to the full payment, as could be done to his great detriment. I do not doubt, indeed I hold it firm, that by the time this letter arrives you will have already regulated and established this affair so well that Texeira will remain pleased and content, which is the principal point of the settlement.
For the rest, I have learned with particular pleasure that the horses have been as appreciated and esteemed as beautiful and well-behaved as you say, approving for the rest of what you have said and done; and God prosper you. From Rome, October 29, 1672.
