Serenissima ac Potentissima Regina, Domina Clementissima.

Gratissimus mihi fuit adventus Illustrissimi Principis Domini Caroli Gustavi Comitis Palatini ad Rhenum, eoque magis, quod et ingenio, et moribus dignum se præstat iis, unde ortus est, et iis quos sanguine attingit. Si palam nosci voluisset Ejus Celsitudo, exhibuissem ejus honori, quæcunque poteram maxima, nunc vero honorem ei habebo, quem possum, ipsius voluntati mea obsequia accommodando, planeque nihil erit, quod quidem meæ sit potestatis, quod non ipsius Celsitudini futurum sit expositum, promtumque. Traherent me eo, etiamsi abesset imperium Majestatis Tuæ, ipsius excelsa indoles, et multum, si Deus, quod opto et spero, foveat faveatque, profuturarum publico virtutum præclara semina. Durchlauchtigaste och Stormäktiga Drottning, Allernådigaste Fröken,

Ankomsten av durchlauchtigaste fursten herr Karl Gustav, Pfalzgreven av Rhen, var mest tilltalande för mig, och ännu mer därför att han visar sig värdig både ingenium och karaktär, från vilka han kom, och för dem som han berör av blod. Om Hans Höghet velat bli känd öppet, skulle jag i största möjliga utsträckning ha framställt hans ära; men nu skall jag få äran att göra vad jag kan för att tillmötesgå mina önskningar, och uppenbarligen kommer ingenting att vara av min egen makt, som inte skulle avslöjas och främjas av Hans Höghet. Most Serene and Powerful Queen, Most Gracious Lady,

The arrival of the most illustrious Prince and Lord Karl Gustav, Count Palatine of the Rhine, was most pleasing to me, and even more so because he shows himself worthy of both genius and character, from whom he came from, and to those whom he touches by blood. If His Highness had wished to be known openly, I would have presented his honour as much as I could to the greatest extent possible; but now I will have the honour to do what I can to accommodate my wishes, and clearly nothing will be of my own power, which would not be exposed and promoted by His Highness. They would draw me thither, even if Your Majesty's command was absent, his lofty character, and much of, if God should cherish and favour what I hope and hope for, the good seeds of future public virtues. May God, preserve Your Royal Majesty, Most Serene and Powerful Queen, Most Gracious Lady, strong, prosperous, and victorious.
