Circa priman pom. profecti Alla, paulo ultra Borghettum venimus ad collimites Austriacæ et Venetæ ditionis, ubi comitatus ab ser:mo archiduce reginae adjunctus substitit et Veneti ad portam lignis elatius occlusam nos exceperunt, nullo examine vel sane parum scrupuloso transeuntium. Inde per viam Peri satis tempestive pervenimus Dulceum ubi deputati Veronensium Regina adventum gratulati sunt, præterea nihil humanitatis exhibentes, diversorium Reginæ, parietibus nudis, squallidis: ettotius itineris sine dubio pessimum. Regina suo sumptu totum comitatum tractavil; me autem pessimo loco hospitantem lautissima cæna excepit. Vespere a Mantuanis et Venetis de intervallis itineris et stationibus constitutum fuit. Qua de re ad eminentissimos legatos nuntios et Romam scripsi.

Vers une heure de l'après-midi, après être partis de Halle, nous arrivâmes un peu au-delà de Borghetto aux sommets des domaines autrichien et vénitien, où la compagnie s'arrêta, accompagnée du sérénissime archiduc pour la reine, et les Vénitiens reçurent nous à la porte, qui était fermée avec du bois, sans aucun examen ni, bien sûr, le moindre scrupule des passants. At about one in the afternoon, after having left from Ala, we came a little beyond Borghetto to the summits of the Austrian and Venetian dominions, where the company halted, accompanied by the Most Serene Archduke for the Queen, and the Venetians received us at the gate, which was closed up with wood, without any examination or, of course, the least scrupulousness of the passers-by. Thence, by way of Peri, we reached Dolcè in good time, where the deputies of Verona congratulated the Queen on her arrival, and besides showing nothing of civility, the inn which the Queen was to stay in, with its bare walls and squalour, was without a doubt the worst one of the whole journey. The Queen managed the whole company at her own expense; but I, who was a guest in the worst place, was received with a very fine luncheon. In the evening the intervals of the journey and the stations were determined by the Mantuans and the Venetians. On this subject I wrote messages to the Most Eminent ambassadors and to Rome.
