J'ai besoin du concours de Votre Révérence pour une affaire qui intéresse au plus haut point la gloire de Dieu, mais aussi qui demande un profond secret. Je ne doute point qu'avec la grâce divine de Votre Révérence n'y trouve un plein contentement et d'autres personnes une grande utilité. Ce ministère durera bien quelques mois. Votre Révérence apprendra de son provincial de quoi il s'agit et ce qu'elle aura à faire.
Donc, à la réception de la présente, laissant de côté toute occupation et passant par-dessus n'importe quelle difficulté, Votre Révérence se rendra à Milan auprès du Provincial, et pour que votre classe de théologie ne soit point un obstacle, j'écris au P. Recteur de vous trouver un suppléant, en attendant que le P. Provincial y pourvoie d'une manière stable. Votre Révérence évitera de donner à entendre à qui que ce soit, même en termes voilés, qu'elle est destinée à une mission d'importance; elle dira seulement qu'elle est mandée par le P. Provincial, auquel j'ai donné avis. L'affaire pour laquelle Dieu vous a choisi ira d'autant mieux qu'elle restera plus secrète. Your Reverence will learn from your provincial what it is and what you will have to do.
Therefore, upon receipt of this present, leaving aside all occupation and overcoming any difficulty, Your Reverence will go to Milan to the Provincial, and so that your theology class is not an obstacle, I write to the Father Rector to find you a substitute, while waiting for the Father Provincial to provide for this in a stable manner. Your Reverence will avoid giving anyone the impression, even in veiled terms, that you are destined for an important mission; you will only say that you are sent by the Father Provincial, to whom I have given notice. The matter for which God has chosen you will go better the more it remains secret. I conclude by asking God for abundant blessings for Your Reverence, and I commend myself to your memory at the holy altar.
