Monsieur le Comte Montecuculi, votre Fils, m'a rendu une Lettre de votre part, qui a été aussi agréablement reçue que vous le pouvez desirer, estimant fort les marques d'affection dont elle est remplie. J'ai voulu vous en remercier par la présente, & vous féliciter en même tems des bonnes qualités du Sieur Comte votre Fils, qui dans sa personne a de-quoi devenir très-digne de vous, me paroissant un jeune Seigneur très-bien fait & fort honnête homme. Je tâcherai de lui faire connoître l'estime & l'amitié que j'ai pour vous dans toutes les occasions qu'il me donnera pendant son séjour en cette Cour, & je vous remercie d'avoir bien voulu me le faire connoître. Je prie Dieu &c.

Swedish translation (my own):

Greve Montecuccoli, Er son, har givit mig ett brev från Er, som har mottagits så angenämt som Ni kunde önska, med hög respekt för de tillgivenhetsbetygelser med vilka det är fyllt. Jag ville härmed tacka Er och samtidigt felicitera Er till herr grevens, Er sons, goda egenskaper, som i sin person har nog att bli Er mycket värdig, och framstår för mig som en ung herre och en mycket välbildad och mycket ärlig man. Jag skall försöka tillkännage för honom den aktning och den vänskap, som jag har för Er i alla de tillfällen, som han kommer att ge mig under sin vistelse vid detta hov, och jag tackar Er för att Ni vänligt har låtit mig lära känna honom. Jag ber till Gud, osv.

English translation (my own):

Count Montecuccoli, your son, has given me a letter from you, which has been as agreeably received as you could wish, greatly esteeming the marks of affection with which it is filled. I wanted to thank you hereby, and at the same time to congratulate you on the good qualities of the Lord Count, your son, who in his person has enough to become very worthy of you, appearing to me a young lord and a very well-formed and very honest man. I will try to make known to him the esteem and the friendship that I have for you in all the opportunities that he will give me during his stay at this court, and I thank you for having kindly made me know him. I pray to God, etc.
