Allt annat är gynnsamt för Er, och jag tror mig kunna försäkra Er om att Ni kommer att finna en tillräckligt trevlig anställning här, och att Ni kommer att kunna tjäna Er prins med härlighet och ära. Berätta för mig Era avsikter med detta och lämna det till mig. Jag hoppas kunna anpassa allt till Er fördel, förutsatt att jag känner till Era avsikter. I thought it a good opportunity to warn you of this, and I see that the provisions are quite favourable to you. The difficulty is that one want to pay little, and that I would like you to have a pay worthy of you; but I dare not hope to obtain it. Everything else is favourable to you, and I think I can assure you that you will find a pleasant enough employ here, and that you will be able to serve your prince with glory and honour. Tell me your intentions on this, and leave it to me. I hope to adjust everything to your advantage, provided I know your intentions. Speak to me clearly, and leave me the care of your fortune; I will push it as far as possible, in the miserable century in which we find ourselves; and if you believe me, make yourself treatable, and take what they give you; for in time your advantages will increase, either under this same Pontiff, or under another who will be more liberal. I beg you for the greatest secrecy, and in the meantime I pray God that He have you in His holy keeping.
