Monsieur Mon frere, M'interessant comme Je fais en toutes les prosp[er]itez de V A E. J'ay receù auec toute la ioye dont Je suis capable la nouuelle de la Naissance du Prince Electoral V[ost]re Fils dont Vous avèz Voulù me faire part par la V[ost]re. Ce qui m'oblige de feliciter V. A. E et de tout mon coeur sur cette Heureuse naissance, et de Vous remercier des marques particulieres que Vous m'avèz donne de V[ost]re affection dans cette Heureuse occasion, me choisissant pour le tenir Sur les Sacrès Fonts, aussi bien que de la maniere obligeante par la quelle Vous avez Voulù Substituer en Ma place Ma Cousine Madame la Princesse d'Hannover qui est la plus digne personne que Vous ayèz peu choisir en vne si agreable et heureuse Rencontre. Notes: In accordance with the nobility's ideals in the early modern era, kings, queens and other rulers considered themselves siblings; when talking to someone of a lower rank than their own, they would refer to that person as "my cousin", regardless of whether or not they were related. Although Kristina was a blood cousin of the Elector on her/his/their mother's side of the family, she/he/they chose to address him as "brother".
Friedrich Wilhelm had been born on August 14, 1688. He grew up to be the King of Prussia as well as the Elector of Brandenburg, and had among his many children Friedrich II the Great.
