Gratulatio Principissæ MARIÆ ad Parentem Comitem Palatinum sub initium anni 1638.
Moris est apud omnes ferè Nationes & Gentes, Serenissime Princeps, Clementissime Parens, ut circa hoc anni tempus strenas mutuò mittere soleant. Ego autem officium meum requirere putavi, strenæ loco vota pro Serenissimâ meâ Reginâ & Celsissimis Parentibus seriò suscipere. Quod igitur felix ac ratum sit, Deo Optimo Maximo gratias, quantas mente concipere possum, maximas habeo, quòd Serenissimam Reginam, Celsissimos Parentes, Fratres ac Sorores potenti suo Numine, ab omnibus malis ac morbis hactenùs clementer prohibuerit, eundemque oro, ut Regiam suam Majestatem, Celsissimos Parentes, Fratres ac Sorores, solitâ bonitate suâ perpetuò prosequatur, & omnibus animi virtutibus, omnibus corporis dotibus, omnibus denique fortunæ bonis augeat, cumulet, amplificet. Faxit æternus ille Deus, ut Serenissima Regina hæc nostra quàm diutissimè huic Imperio florens atque incolumis præesse possit; & quia ille Deus est, in cujus manu ac ditione vertuntur omnia, tenerrimam igitur ac saluti Sueciæ fatalem hanc Gustavi Magni unicam sobolem, non modò solitâ illâ & usitatâ, quâ cæteres Principes ac Monarchas fovet, curâ ac providentiâ prosequatur, sed eò benigniùs ac diligentiùs tueatur, quo in tantâ solitudine ac inopiâ, tantâque ætatis imbecillitate penè in unius hujus Reginæ tutelâ ac patrocinio, salus publica ac omnium nostrûm conquiescit. Félicitations de la Princesse Marie à son père, le Comte Palatin, au début de l'année 1638.
C'est la coutume de presque toutes les nations et de tous les peuples, Prince Sérénissime, mon très gracieux père, qu'à cette époque de l'année ils s'envoient des cadeaux. Cependant, je pensais que mon devoir m'obligerait à entreprendre avec ferveur les prières pour ma Sérénissime Reine et mes parents illustrissimes. Det är seden bland nästan alla nationer och folk, durchlauchtigaste furste, min nådigste far, att de vid den här tiden på året är vana att skicka presenter till varandra. Jag trodde dock att min plikt skulle kräva av mig att på allvar åta mig bönerna för min durchlauchtigaste drottning och durchlauchtigaste föräldrar. I, however, thought that my duty would require me to undertake earnestly the prayers for my Most Serene Queen and most exalted parents. Therefore, that it may be happy and fair, I thank the great God, as much as I can conceive in my mind, I have the greatest gratitude that He has mercifully protected the Most Serene Queen, and my most exalted parents, brothers and sisters from all evils and diseases up to now, and I pray the same that He perpetuate his usual goodness towards Her Royal Majesty, my most exalted parents, brothers and sisters, and may he increase, accumulate, and amplify all the virtues of the mind, all the gifts of the body, and finally all the goods of fortune. May the eternal God grant that our Most Serene Queen may preside over this empire flourishing and unscathed for a very long time; and because He is God, in Whose hand and dominion all things turn, may therefore this only child of Gustav the Great, this tenderest and most essential thing for the salvation of Sweden, be not pursued with care and providence in the same manner and custom as He fosters other princes and monarchs, but may He protect her with kindness and diligence, by which, in so much solitude and poverty, and so much infirmity of age, the public safety, and that of all of us, rests solely in the protection and patronage of this one Queen.
