Sacra e Real' Maestà.
Non sdegnerà l'animo generoso di Vostra Maestà di mirare sù questo foglio a fuoi piedi un servo pieno d'ossequio, che con la mestitia su 'l volto, ardisce di notificare alla Maestà Vostra la morte del Cardinale Azzolino mio zio, e di presentarle a titolo di vassallagio ogni mio arbitrio a libera dispositione de voleri di V. M:tà. Affidato di questa speranza, io corro volontieri sotto l'ali della sua potentissima protettione, accioche, dove non arriva il mio poco merito, mi porti l'infinita benignità della M:tà V:ra, e liberi la debolezza mia dalle inevitabili vessationi, che questa disgrazia m'adduce. Sotto scorta cosi potente, confido, rimaranno auvalorati i sentimenti del già defonto Cardinale, non punto disjunti da miei, e toccherà quel' segno tanto desiderato dalla mia rispettosa ubbidienza, che mi farà capace di meritare l'honore d'ogni minimo cenno di V. Maestà, all'arbitrio della quale ponendo ogni mio volere profondemente m'inchino.

L'ame généreuse de V. M. ne dédaignera pas de jetter les yeux sur cette feuille que mèt à ses piés un serviteur très-soumis, qui la tristesse sur le visage, a la hardiesse de notifier à V. M. la mort du Cardinal Azzolini son oncle, & de remettre à titre d'hommage toute sa volonté à la libre disposition, & au bon plaisir de V. M. Fondé sur cette espérance je cours volontiers sous les ailes de sa protection très-puissante, afin que la bonté infinie de V. M. me porte, où mon peu de mérite ne peut atteindre, & suppléant à mon impuissance me délivre des véxations inévitables que va me causer ce malheur. J'ai cette confiance que sous une protection si puissante, les sentimens du feu Cardinal pour Votre Majesté, qui ne différent le moins du monde des miens, resteront en vigueur & que je jouïrai de ce signe de bienveillance que je desire tant dans ma respectueuse obéïssance & qui me rendra capable de mériter l'honneur de la moindre marque de faveur de V. Ers Majestäts generösa själ kommer inte att förakta att se på detta ark som lagts vid Era fötter av en mycket undergiven tjänare som med sorg i ansiktet har djärvheten att meddela Ers Majestät om kardinal Azzolinos, hans onkels, död, och att placera i hylla all hans vilja till Ers Majestäts fria förfogande och välbehag. Grundad på detta hopp springer jag villigt under Ert mäktigaste skydds vingar, så att Ers Majestäts oändliga godhet kan ta mig dit min lilla förtjänst inte kan nå och, som kompensation för min impotens, befria mig från de oundvikliga förtret som denna olycka. Your Majesty's generous soul will not disdain to glance at this sheet placed at your feet by a very submissive servant who, with sadness on his face, has the boldness to notify your Majesty of the death of Cardinal Azzolino, his uncle, and to place in homage all his will at the free disposition and good pleasure of Your Majesty. Founded on this hope, I willingly run under the wings of your most powerful protection, so that Your Majesty's infinite goodness may take me where my little merit cannot reach and, compensating for my impotence, deliver me from the inevitable vexations that this misfortune. I have this confidence that under such powerful protection, the late Cardinal's feelings for Your Majesty, which do not differ in the least in the world from mine, will remain in force and that I will enjoy this sign of benevolence which I so desire in my respectful obedience and which will enable me to deserve the honour of the slightest mark of favour from Your Majesty, to whose good pleasure I submit all my will, being with the most profound respect
