Proficiscitur in Germaniam dilectus filius Lucas Holstenius Domesticus noster Prothonotarius Apostolicus Basilicæ S. Petri Canonicus, nostræque Vaticanæ Bibliothecæ Custos, vt negotia summi ponderis ad hanc Sanctam Sedem pertinentia nostro iussu exequatur. Tu si virum multiplici, solidaquè doctrina clarum. nec minore pietate, ac fide nobis acceptum ità tractaueris, vt nihil ab humanitate tua desiderari amplius possit, rem feceris, & nostro in te amore, & tua in tales viros propensione dignissimam, tibique Apostolicam benedictionem impartimur. Notre très cher fils Luc Holstenius, Notre protonotaire domestique, chanoine de la Basilique Saint-Pierre et gardien de Notre Bibliothèque Vaticane, se rend en Allemagne afin de mener à bien, à Notre demande, des affaires de la plus haute importance concernant ce Saint-Siège. Si vous vouliez traiter un homme aux doctrines nombreuses et claires et le recevoir avec non moins de piété et de foi, de telle manière qu'on ne puisse plus rien désirer de votre humanité, vous aurez fait une chose digne de Notre amour pour vous et de votre propension pour de tels hommes, et Nous vous accordons Notre bénédiction apostolique. Donné à Rome, à Sainte Marie Majeure sous l'Anneau du Pêcheur, le dix octobre de l'an de grâce 1655, la première année de Notre pontificat.

Our beloved Son Luke Holstenius of our houshold, principall Apostolicall Notary, Canon of the Church of St. Peter, and Keeper of our Vatican Library, is going into Germany, to act by our command, affairs of high concern appertaining to this holy Sea; whom, as famous for his piety, as his various, and solid learning, and esteemed by us for his faithfulnesse, if you shall with all courtesie receive, you will do a thing worthy of our love towards you, and becomming your own inclination to such men. And we impart to you our Apostolicall benediction.
Given at Rome at Saint Maries the greater, under the ring of the fisher on the 10th. of October, 1655. in the first year of our Papacy.
