Excerpt from Sir George Gresley's letter to Sir Thomas Puckering, dated January 27/February 6 (New Style), 1633

Source:

The court and times of Charles the First, volume 2, pages 225 to 226, published by Robert Folkestone Williams, 1848

The letter excerpt:

Essex House, February 6, 1632-3.
... I hoped to have sent you, this week, a very true relation which is lately come over of the King of Sweden's death and battle. But Butter having got it to his hands, and thinking to have printed it, it is there stopped both from publishing it in print or copying. ...

There is also a rumour that the Queen of Sweden should be lately brought to bed of a prince, and dead in childbed. ...

With more modernised spelling:

Essex House, February 6, 1632-3.
... I hoped to have sent you, this week, a very true relation which is lately come over of the King of Sweden's death and battle. But, Butter having got it to his hands and thinking to have printed it, it is there stopped both from publishing it in print or copying. ...

There is also a rumour that the Queen of Sweden should be lately brought to bed of a prince and dead in childbed. ...

French translation (my own):

Essex House, le 6 février 1632-3.

Swedish translation (my own):

Essex House, den 6 februari 1632-3.
