Mon Cousin, Michel Finckler, ayant été au service du feu Prince votre Frére, en qualité de son Agent en cette Ville, & souhaitant de vous servir aussi dans le même poste, il m'a supplié de vouloir vous écrire en sa faveur, ce que je lui ai d'autant plus volontiers accordé, qu'on m'assure qu'il en est digne par la dévotion & par le zéle qu'il témoigne pour votre service. Je vous le recommande donc pour lui faire obtenir cette consolation, dont je vous serai obligé[e], si vous vous y employez en ma considération. En attendant je prie Dieu &c.

Min kusin,

Michael Finckler, efter att ha ju varit i tjänst hos den salige fursten, Er bror, som hans agent i denna stad, och önskande att tjäna Er också i samma tjänst, har han bett mig skriva till Er för hans räkning, vilken jag har alla desto mera villigt beviljat honom, som jag är försäkrad om att han är värdig det genom den hängivenhet och nit han visar för Er tjänst. Jag rekommenderar honom därför till Er att skaffa honom denna tröst, för vilken jag är skyldig Er, om Ni beflitar Er att göra det i min betraktelse. Emellertid ber jag till Gud osv.

English translation (my own):

My cousin,

Michael Finckler, having been in the service of the late Prince, your brother, as his agent in this city, and wishing to serve you also in the same post, he has begged me to write to you on his behalf, which I have all the more willingly granted him, as I am assured that he is worthy of it by the devotion and zeal he shows for your service. I recommend him to you, therefore, to obtain this consolation for him, for which I shall be obliged to you if you apply yourself to it in my consideration. In the meantime I pray to God, etc.

Note: In accordance with the nobility's ideals in the early modern era, kings and queens considered themselves siblings; when talking to someone of a lower rank than their own, they would refer to that person as "my cousin", regardless of whether or not they were related.
